Thread: Whats best pistol to use grinding.

Is the geo blaster any good for grinding. Or should i be using something else.

I used a Scatter Pistol for my grinding, but that can only work if you have Bounty Hunter. If you don't have BH, I would suggest either modified republic or DX2 like ChefVomit said. Featherweight FWG5's are good if you are unbuffed (really low HAM costs), but if you are buffed a good republic or DX2 will do enough damage (with HAM costs basically negated by the buffs) for the xp you need.

In my opinion, the DX2 and Republic Blaster (modified version if you can find it cheap) are the best pistols to grind with. The reason I say this is that I ground out mainly on Dath and Dant. The DX2 is killer for Dath, since nearly everything there is Acid vulnerable.....and the Republic with a decent damage slice is extremely powerful for such a low price.
To this day I still keep my DX2 and Modified Republic on quickdraw. The Genosion is nice, BUT.....to get one that can be strong enough to grind out on the big XP mobs, you have to pay well for it. I dont think personally that grinding with a 50000 credit or more pistol makes a lot of sense, but thats me. You can get nice DX2s and RBs for less than a third of the price of a Genosian.
Just consider your targets and their resists. Lets say there is a MOB with a 40% resist to acid, but it is vulnerable to Kinetic. Well if your Acid DX2 is more than twice as powerful than your Striker pistol, you might as well stay with the DX2. It will do more damage. Also, get smart about your pistols. Start calculating damage per second over a 30 second period to determine which pistol will actually deal out the most damage. I have seen a lot of novice Pistoleers complain about speed slices. So me, this is just nuts. With a good speed slice you will be able to dish about just as much, if not more, damage than a damage slice. And you wont be firing anywhere near the speed cap until you get to Master anyway.
Those are just my thoughts. I dont claim to be an expert....thats just been my experience. Hope this helps.

if you happen to be on corbantis, i've still got 38 pre-nerf fwg5 pistols, i could hook you up with one... they're 63-208 dmg... somewhere around that, at 1.8 speed, unsliced... low ham cost as well

It really depends on yer target. Always play to their weakness. The above posts are right on, but I would add that the FWG5 is my grinding tool of choice. vs Giant Baz's it outproforms the DX2 and the RB, and they are my fav xp snack. A featherwieght is cheap, and easily replaced.

This may sound dumb I used a scout blaster. their cheap so if you don't get 30%+ dam slice you can sell them on the bazzar for 4-6k which they sell for on most servers i'm on unsliced. no ap1 but mine is 130-268 1.8 11/20/11 the low ham cost is great for stacking your bleeds/fire/health shot i can spam any special all day long fan shot cost me 5/20/6 each use. even at master pistoleer i was ok xp for high end mobs on the starter worlds. i could take out whole herds in seconds. no buffs needed//////buffed i use my scatter lowblow and fanshot

Really, your best bet is adaptability. Get a good pistol of every energy type you can find. I keep all of mine in quick draw slots. Just shop around, find a good base pistol and then slice it until you get one that you like (My Striker is 2.0 110min damage sliced. It cost me 2000. Put a PU on that and it becomes quite nasty.Hardly anyone uses them and they sound awesome. That and its the only gun you'll have that'll be able to even hav ea chance of hurting a Nightsister Stalker...). As was said earlier, sell the rejects on the baz and they will go for 6k almost instantly. (A nice trick if you find someone selling cheap pistols. Buy every single one they sell, slice, sell on baz for a nice profit. If they /tell asking why you bought their pistols and then turn around and sold them, make a deal to slice weps for them and they can sell them at their own vendor, everyone is happy).... Dx2 is my work horse though... Sliced you can get them up to around 140 min damage.
Besides its fun to collect the pistols. I've always got my eye out for a good replacement pistol. Just nice to have and show other pistoleers while your waiting for a shuttle someday...
Now I just need 5 mil for a De10...

dx-2 for most creatures, a nice sliced republic blaster to blow up nests faster. i 've got a few that sliced and powered up have around 400 dmg. Nice weapons to blow lairs.

scout blaster is the best pistol to grind with
low HAM, high speed, decent damage and damage spread, plus they're cheap so you can abuse the hell out of them with powerups, etc.
just find some energy vulnerable or non-energy resistant mobs (like a lot of mobs on endor)

i would say DX2 is the best. you can pick em up cheap and they have one of the quickest base speeds. speed is pretty much the biggest issue when you are novice. that and they are acid so most mobs have low resist to em.
if you get a good dmg slice and some speed power ups you can master the prof in no time.

grinded pistoleerin 1 day with a krayted scatter (krayt tissue 30+ max dam (lowest qual)) I had BH 0040 and smuggler 0040 before i started doing pistoleer. got around 1.5 mil exp every 3 hours doing savage quenkers.
last ditch is a winner
