I am currently a TKA and I am considering going pistoleer, either now or after the combat revamp. I am wondering how good pistols currently are in PvE. Thank you for any response.

They are decent if you get every skill (rogue, master pistoleer, BH pistols and novice comando) but, you are a one trick poney at that point and it gets old really fast! You can not touch anything on corvette or any droids from the DWB. A krayt dragon can be slain, but its not easy at all and requires a lot of feign deathing unless maybe you are one of those people that have 1 item in inventory being your pistol and the other 49 being the huge assortment of drinks, food and spices that everyone but me seems to use constantly.

If i were you, i would do the triple master (Master Pistoleer, Master Smuggler, TKM). Why? Because, Smuggler accents Pistoleer with the rouge tree and gives u some pretty hand attacks such as feign death. If you ever need to use ranged attacks or something has high resistance to kinetic, you can use Pistoleer, but for everthing else TKM. Also Smuggler is a great source of income from slicing weapons and armor to selling smuggler supplies to spices. Smuggler make a decient living and it will be even better with JTL and the smuggler revamp. Even though I am not a Triple Master yet (TKM, pistoleer 0-0-4-1, smuggler 0-3-0-2) I can see it coming together and why it works so well.

Pistoleer is good against unarmored and light armor, however if you keep TKM you will only use Pistoleer for singles or groups of ranged attackers since TKM is much better at close range.

In my opinion, pistoleer just sucks in high end PvE, but is great in low-mid level PvE. AP1 is your worst enemy.

It's good for most PvE, especially when you have TKM also. As others have said, TK will usually do more damage but there are times when the pistol is better, especially if the target has high Kinetic resists but vulnerabilities to something like Stun, Acid, Heat or Energy.
I haven't tackled anything really big with this combo yet, but just about anything on Dantooine is doable (except NPC Jedi of course). I have a friend who is a triple master and he likes to tank Black Suns on Endor... but when the Death Watch boys show up he has to bug out.
It would be nice if there were a level playing field for professions, so that a TKM/Pistoleer performed as well as, say, a Rifleman/Swordsman.

Hmmm......well thanks for the advice. However I am also a WS/DE and dont want to drop that and only want a combat profession for 1) protection durring harvester runs, 2) occasional runs in the geo cave to get some loot and 3) do missions to get both FPs and some money if I need it. Sounds like as a standalone profession, pistoleer isnt the best. I will probibly keep TKM till the combat revamp then I will check back with it. Till then looks like it is more melee combat for me

Given that.. I think TKM is your best choice. While pistoleer is no slouch TKM will be great for what you want.
