So I finally finished leveling my "Gun Fu" alt. Took a while to do, since free time is hard to come by.
Throw up the old gunslinger title and am just hanging around the local cantina. Maybe I'll get some PvP in to knock the rust off (it's been months since I've seen serious action). Get challenged to a duel, and promptly pistol whip andeyeshot some swordsman in comp to death with my PvE sonic blaster (only about 380max).
So some TKM who's been watching thinks he's got my number. He's acting pretty cocky, and challenges me to a duel. He's got a stun helm on, and his mind is buffed. He tries to KD me, but it doesn't stick. Warcry, intimidate, switch to my launcher pistol (nice +0 range mods), pistol whip, and last ditch spam the guy to death.
He's pissed. He gets a heal from a friend and starts whining about being killed by a dabbler, and starts insinuating that a pistoleer shouldn't be using brawler and smuggler attacks. He just can't stop whining. I /wink, and hit the road. All I hear is more whining that he "should have expected that from someone in [my] guild".
I still can't get over how people think they've got your number from a title and the weapon in your hand. I don't really believe this guy was pissed that I was a pistol dabbler, I think he was just mad at himself for underestimating me. Dunno, but I'm still enjoying the little bit of PvP I've gotten into with my alt.

I don't call it dabbling, I call it "sacrificing even more skill points into brawler and smuggler to compensate an almost completely broken profession"

Or maybe that three broken professions (smuggler, bounty hunter, and pistoleer) form up like Voltron to form one functional profession.

It's a pretty common one around here after the BH prereqs were dropped: master pistoleer, bounty pistols 4, dirty fighting 4, novice commando. While it's common around here, I don't think people outside of the gunfighting world are used to dealing with it.
On paper the only problem with it is low melee and ranged defense, and I guess if you consider having no real melee combat ability a weakness, there's that too. It leaves six skill points left over, which I guess you could turn into novice TKA for meditate (although you'd only stop bleeding at novice, and that's a heck of a grind to get novice meditate).

Thats the temp i've have since the bh change droped comando for invest 3 to try my hand at jedi hunt it was fun for a while. The only problem is if they ever fix pistoleer we'll all become wannabe FOTM guys when we did it just to get the most out of a broken prof.

that is why we have to stake our claims to this territory while it is still broken. when/if it turns into an "uber 1337" FOTM we will be the ELITE of the "1337" and can just shrug it off as mindless bitching. Many of us have been pistoleers for so long we cant remember anything before it (i have been pistoleer for like the last six months and started off as a pistoleer several months before that). there is no one who can just come into this prof and expect to be the sickest **edit** right off the bat. this prof takes more learning and strategizing than any other i have played (probly why i have been and always will be one). we put the effort into learning this prof's ins and outs. we have taken the time to learn PvP and PvE strategy. we have suffered through the problems and i think we will be rewarded for our knowledge when the CR goes live.
when I see a FOTMer running around with his 3 million dollar geo pistol spamming eyshot at everyone who comes his way it always makes me laugh (dont take this the wrong way i use eyeshot alot but only when it is advantageous), mainly cause i can see it hitting for like 50 dmg hehe. The strategy of dabbling is our finest accomplishment. Those uber melee temps can (almost) never drop an experienced and knowledgable pistoleer.
