Thread: Different pistols, different situations?

I've been struggling recently going through pistol, and I think it's due to the weapons I've been toting. I'm currently 0/1/4/2. I find myself mainly using a scout blaster 61-170 1.6 and fanshot. I've been running savage quenker missions with comp and buffs on Dantooine. What do you master pistoleers recommend for grinding weapon wise? I have a reasonable access to credits.

I haven't killed any quenkers in awhile, but I thinkthe DX2 (Acid damage) isour best weapon against them, as they have higher Energy and Heat resist. Can anybody confirm?

At the very least, it's time to retire that Scout Blaster in favor of a Republic Blaster. It is Energy damage as well, but has Armor Piercing 1.

The hardest part about mastering pistols is getting to Tech 4 and Fanshot. Once you get that it's all down hill. The above poster is correct, get a Republic Blaster or 2 and a DX for Acid and get them sliced and pray for speed.

Another thing I'd recommend is just heading to Endor and NOT doing missions. I realize you won't make any money, but if you walk from the 1 outpost to the other and kill everything in sight you will hit master in just a couple buff sessions. Natural lairs spawn way more critters and give a lot more xp. Also, make sure you are in a group with a pet or droid, but leave them at outpost...you get a big xp bonus while grouped.

Just target the lair and spam fanshot...eventually everything will die. Just stay away from the spiders...they are evil.

This is my second time mastering pistols, once for the holo grind, and now for my template. It took me 4 days each time. 2.5 days to get tech 4, and 1.5 to get all the rest.

Hope that helps.....just one guys opinion.

One of the things I love most about this prof is our ability to adapt to any situation. ALWAYS take the time to examine your opponent and see what its strengths and weaknesses are, then choose the best weapon for the situation.

I may have a tendency to go a bit overboard, but I have around 10-15 guns (representing each available damage type) in my inventory ...and that's just when I go out for pizza....

get a fwg-5 for heat;

get a republic blaster for energy;

get a dx2 for acid;

examine you enemy and see its resistances, switch weapons accordingly

if you have bounty hunter:

scatter pistol for acid, way better than dx2

if you have pistoleer techniques II and some cash:

get a genoshan blaster for stun damage, not much has resistance to stun

Alot of people underestimate the XP given for Huurton Stalkers. With a nice DX-2 and Fanshot/PointBlankArea you can get massive XP in a short time.

When most people try to hunt Stalkers with a pistol for the first time... they only give around 3200-3500 xp and have higher HAM than quenkers (about double). So people get discouraged and never go back to killing them. They end up sticking with Quenkers or Baz Nitchthe entire grind.

There is a point where that XP will jump from 3200-3500 to 4000 per stalker. Once you have Fanshot.. you are there.

As you get more boxes in pistoleer.. the stalker XP will increase... and keep increasing up to 5100 XP per stalker. Once you are at that mark your XP for Quenkers will have lowered to about 2800 per.

Stalkers do have a Dizzy attack but.. as long as you DONT try to stand or kneel or what not. You are fine and can ignore the status since they themselves can't change posture. (Just watch for critters from different spawns that DO posture changes... Been there.. done that.. not pretty)

It is not unheard of to get 81000 XP for 1 single lair (barring baby's spawning).

I'm not saying change your training practices.. but try it sometime after you have fanshot. Either stand directly inside the lair and spam Point Blank Area or do a standoff attack using fanshot (I prefer the first myself).

For those that are close to Master.. try it once or twice as well and check out the XP.

Even if the lair takes couple minutes longer, you are saving time by getting MUCH more XP on less missions. Which means less travel to the terminals...etc. Plus they payout about twice as much

FYI... Be buffed.. with full armor. 2 brandy and 2 ahrissa in a large SOLO group.

By the time you are close to Master, you'll end up having to STOP shooting sothe lair can finish popping before you destroy it.

I don't know if you're already doing this, but only use healtshot as it's by far our highest pool specific DPS shot.

I usually get buffed, bring brandy and canape, get dressed in high kin composite (Ubese was my fav for TKA but it wears down quickly), get into a solo group, go to Dantooine and start doing several kind of missions, mostly Voritor Hunter nests (use the dx-2 because they have low acid resist, more critters, and I harvest meat) and Mokk Shamans (use the FWG5 cuz they got Heat vulnerability). Hit the lair, wait for them to surround you, use both healthshots on all the monsters, then start spamming pointblankarea1, finishing them up with bodyshots. I just got 0044 today. Gonna experiment with the fanshot.

the second (and final time) i grinded pistoleer i did quenker missions with a DX-2. It is probably your best bet (unless you can use a scatter). I finished Mpistol in 1.5 days with that. keep on the current track you are on and you will be master in no time. you might want to find one with a little higher dmg or get a couple and hope for a dmg slice. if not get some good 30% dmg power ups it iwll make it much faster.

here is a good shot combo to lead an attack.

/healthshot2;

/healthshot1;

bodyshot1;

bodyshot1

this will get the mob bpeeding like a stuck pig.

if you get several mobs on you or a group mate take the time to hit each on with a set.

I am currantly told that for single target fights that while healthshot2 does more damage per hit

the speed of healthshot1 goves it a better average damage per sec, plus the bleed

also on damage types if all your pistols do about the same damage they it is wise to pick a damage that the mob has the least

resistance to but ig you have a weapon that has much better damage then some times it is better to just stick with it and burn

through the resistance.

FWG5 for heat,Republic Blaster for energy,DX2 for acid,and a tangle/geo blaster for stun.

I even have weapons for lare busting(no powerups) and meleedifence(pistol whipping mobs is very hard on the condition of the weapon)

hope this helps

If you really like pain, head to Dath and do Giant Baz Nitch Missions. They give out over 4k xp a pop. Make sur eto stay away from the Mutant Baz's though as they are less xp and harder to kill. Also, be on the look out for Night Sisters... run like mad.

Also, unless you have some Melee in you, it also pays to get a very nice Striker Pistol, as it does Kin damage. You won't use it often, but it sounds cool and you can get really awesome one for cheap. Somethings (such as some nightsisters) have low Kin. Resistance (by low I mean 80% resistance as oppose dot the 100% they have in everything else) and a striker will pay off...

Sides, I jsut like having a ton of different weps in my tool bar and pull them out at different times. Peolle that I hunt wiht are like "How many wepons do you have man?!" "As many as I can carry..."

don't use bodyshot, ONLY healthshot2

bleeds don't stack anymore and healthshot outdamages all bodyshots

Yeah i can't really recall what is best for quenkers, i leveled tka, marksman, and rifle off them in the past. I do know one thing though and that is, you need to get a really nice non ch pet. BE's have been able to make some good ones recently. Once you get a pet you can send it out and then just kneel down in exactly ideal range so you never miss. I did it unbuffed for marks and rifle. Just make sure you can heal yourself and have some accarrgarm if your gonna do that.
