Thread: Any Better Than DX2?

I've been looking at the Pistoleer tree and it seems that the highest cirtification for a pistol you can get is a DX2 pistol. I like that pistol. Are there any other pistols that come up?

Find a pre-nerf fwg5 or post-nerf republic blaster with 200+dmg, if you got $$ to burn go krayt and get 300-350+ max dmg.

DX2s are just bad IMO, i have one, i hate it. You lose alot more ham per special and i'm not seeing any extra performance over a good fwg5 or my krayt scout. The distance mods on it are terrible too.

Doh..

Totally forgot the FWG5. You definently want one of these for PVE. It does Heat damage. Pre-nerf ones are nice in pvp, post are not.

DX2 is for close range, hence being a pistol and giving +20 bonus to damage at point blank.

DX2 and Republic Blaster both have AP1. That is your friend. I haven't used a scout blaster since I was a novice marksman. With the republic blaster around I have no idea why you would either.

As a gunfighter, in my opinion, you should have the following in your arsonel:
DX2 - AP1, Acid damage, great for close range, very accurate

Rep Blaster - AP1, Energy Damage, decent damage weapon similar to pre-nerf FWG, no negatives at pointblank and 65 meters, but are negs at middle range

90% you will use on of those two. They can both be krayt enhanced.

Also you should have:
Striker - Kinetic Damage. You will need this for nightsisters.

Tangle - Stun Damage. Honestly I dont use this even on composite wearing goons, if it had AP1 it might be a different story. If you can get a high end one this might rock in pvp... i have yet to see a high end one however.

Striker and tangle can be enhanced, but not by krayt.

The FWG5 got nerfed a couple of patches ago. Weaponsmiths can no longer put Blaster Power Handlers in them, which prevents them from using Krayt tissue. Apparently, the FWG5 had two power sources so they got rid of BPH which leaves only the Projectile feed mechanism (which can't take Krayt tissue). Thats it in a nutshell.

I use a republic. Honestly I don't see a use for any of the other pistols with my template :/
