I keep hearing that DX2 really sucks but I find that I get more damage from my DX2 than from my higher statted FWG5. I thought it was supposed to be the opposite. Anyway is there a bigger difference in damage between PvE and PvP? Can I get your advice as to what pistol is better for what situation? Thanks

You're probably fighting stuff with armor, or high heat resists.

Well, on my server, Tarquinas, the DX2 sucks. Even the Kryat enhanced pre-nerfed one I have sucks. Against creatures, they are failry worthless. The DX2 shoots acid, like the Scatter pistol does. If you fight a squill, one of the tougher creatures on Tatooine with a DX2, your damage is reduced by 50% because the Squill is resistant to the acid attack. Against NPC's or in PvP, the DX2 can do some fair damage, but the FWG is more potent in my opinion. I hear the DX2 works well on Stormtroopers and Dark Troopers. I have a pre-nerfed FWG that does 76-408, Kryat Enhanced 1.4 speed. Sadly, it is almost worn out. The price of these guns on my server is very high, 300k and more. Unless your servers has bad weapon balance like mine does, you may want to try both and see how you do.

I think that u are looking at pistols the wrong way. We can use any damage type in the game. U have to use the right pistol for any given creature or npc. 100% armor against kinetic makes a tkm useless in solo PvE. If the aromor says 100% against damage type A and 5% against damage type B, for hokey religon's sake use typeB. And for pvp get a tangle pistol. The stun damage will bypass armor since stun layers are missing from most armor. I keep on pistol of each damage type on my combat hotkey bar with a few power ups in my inventory for a long fight. Also, diferent level enemies in mobs and lairs have different armor ratings so u have to switch midfight some times.

This can not be solved in a blanket statement.

PvP.

Enemy in Padded it's FWG5 . Enemy in Composite it's DX2 Enemy unarmored it's whatever your fasted highest damage is (depends on level and what you got)

PvE.

Examine enemy and see what he is volnerable to. Use that.

Tangle is best for Composite. I have yet to see a Stun Resistant set of Composite armor
