Thread: Ubese or Compo
I have both:
Ubese Suit with 72% Kinetic and 22% Others
Composite Suit with 70% Kinetic
The composite is heavier, but it has much better all around protection.
It depends on your stats, and what types of slices you get.
I agree with the first two guys.
Ubese for most creature mobs since all you have to worry about is kinetic damage but for PvP composite is the ticket although a good player will use stun damage against you but at least you are forcing them to use one of the weaker pistols and the stun stick is also fairly weak for fencers although better then the tangler.
Composite is better all-around. Ubese is sweet vs critters, but you can't always control whether nasties with blasters will start shooting at you.
Just remember, good composite will force you to change your play style most likely. You'll need to stat migrate to get into it (perhaps not even then). Plus, the added encumbrance will make you slower and make each special or heal much more expensive on your primaries.
That ten shot salvo you used to fire off without a problem before wearing the armor might just incapacitate you now.
Also, bleeds, poison, disease and flame pass right through the mighty composite as though it were silk. They bypass all your defenses in a most illogical way.
Regarding Ubese in PvP vs Striclty melee fighters is it any better that composite in these situations? Never tried it, in these situations.

I think the same level ubese would have less encumbrance than composite in this situation, so the same performance would be achieved with less sacrifice.
I know that higher level NPC's are pretty smart about weapons choices these days. For example, a rebel general will attack you with his SG82 until you get to melee, then put on his vibroknucklers. They may well also be smart enough to base their choices on the type of armor you don.
Be sure that you're not confusing melee fighters with TKA's/unarmed. Each of the non-TKA melee professions has the ability to switch damage types just as quick as a pistoleer can. Ubese can be very useful against TKA's, but against a fencer using a stun baton and a massive bleed, it's a total joke. Similarly, Swordsmen can do Blast or electricity. Pikemen can do... uh, something, I'm sure.
