Thread: Health shot I, How much damage and how quick?

Getting ready to get pistol IV and health shot and was curious how much damage this does and how long it lasts. I have heard you can use this then switch to another weapon (like 1 hand melee) and you will get full XP in the other weapon. Can anyone confirm this?

Healthshot does no direct damage at all, rather it causes bleeding in the target's health pool. The bleed from HS1 is generally around 100 a tick, give or take. What you were talking about is using healthshot to put a bleed on a mob before fighting it melee to get melee XP.

Yep, it does no damage with the initial hit but then does damage every 20 seconds.(I believe its 20, although I've read 15 before). When you initially hit your combat display will say "you use sap-shot on mob for xxx damage". This is the amount of damage that will be dealt each tick until the bleed subsides (mobs usually dead long before ). I've read it deals half damage - I'm not sure this is true.

For your information, Bleed1 and Bleed2 stack.... I usually open with both.... Bleed one for about 250-300 damage, Bleed 2 for 500-600. It normally works out that, between the two, I'm getting 700-900 damage a "tick".

It's all in the latest FAQ, which is pretty comprehensive.

Yes the bleed happens every 20 seconds. The amount of damage you do with the shot is dependant on the damage output of your weapon, the distance from your target and the position you fire it from......a kneeling bleed will yield a higher bleed more often than standing will. I normally kneel when I do my bleeds and can easily get a total of 1100 on bleeds. HS2 normally gets me a 400-700 bleed and HS1 normally gets me a 200-500 bleed (although I have gotten 600+ with HS1 on many occasions and the highest i've gotten with HS2 was 989) Always use your most powerful gun to do bleeds also, it completely bypasses armor and resist so a republic blaster can and will bleed a target that's 100% resistant to energy.

Jaxx:

in order for you to gain full xp from bleeding and switching to another weapon you have to make sure you don't hit the targert with any regular pistol shots after the intial bleed. If you do, then the xp will be split between pistol xp and whatever the other weapon is that you switch to. When you become a master it's sometimes difficult to not hit with a normal shot after the bleed because you fire so fast........I've done a bleed and immediately peace aftewards but still fire 3-6 shots before it actually peaced......

What stats are on your pistol? I never get bleeds that high - usually about 150-200 for HS1 and 180-300 for HS2, and that is using either my Rep blaster or my DX2...

Can't remember the stats on my pistols off the top of my head (at work at the mo) - they are not Uber, as my pre-nerf krayt stuff are in the bank and come out only on special occasions, but they are well made and I would say they were in the top 15% for unsliced weapons.

I can only think your guns are sliced and powered up? Would that be right?

Erm, I was getting that damage as a high level pistoleer and get about the same now i'm master - tho i don't tend to use it as much as i used to.

I haven't noticed that lying prone or kneeling affects the damage - as far as i knew it only affected accuracy (and lets face it, at master you can be doing kartwheels and not miss). Will test this later.

My pistols aren't anything special. 80-250 sliced FWG5s / Republics., 120-190 DX2. With a 15/31 powerup or a better gun, I suppose its possible to get well over 1500 with the two combined bleeds. One time one of my hunting buddies complained that I got a 1600 DOT (death over time) - he don't like me getting all that xp

Good advice from Hardwired. It's worth opening with bleed2 and bleed1 while lying prone.... You get time before the bleeds take affect and won't pick up agro... Buying you valuable time. I tend to open with /prone, /bleed2, bleed1, peace. If you use your most powerful gun then you'll get more damage, then switch to the gun you'll use for the combat - i.e. the one that does the fastest damage.

Oh, before i close - an even better way to maximise your bleed DOTs is to Knock down first. This way the mob takes more damage.... If you have lowblow you could open with that first - I'm yet to try this. I'm also yet to confirm how much damage you can do with bleed1 and 2 with/without kd - I just like looking at what stopping shot and fanshot are doing.

Hardwired, are you sure about HS1/2 bypassing armour completely? If so, would it make a difference if the target is laying prone/knocked-down at the time?

As far as i understand it, laying prone or being knocked down means your armour gets bypassed - if HS1/2 bypass armour anyway then it would make no difference?

Not really tested this myself, as you can probably gather.

Hmmm, odd. The /prone, /HS1, /HS2, /peace is *exactly* how I start all solo combat, and whilst I will occasionaly get the bleeds to stack to around 700-900 I would say about 70% of the time the stacked value is between 400-600.

Maybe I just need to be a bit higher up than 0032. :-)
