I pulled this from the bottom of another thread because I don't think it got seen..... And i'm really hoping for some response

I had been debating over the past couple weekswhether staying master pistoleer (after 7 months) was a smart move. I am virtually uselss in pvp as I am a dedicated MCH. A pistol was the first gun I ever picked up, and while climbing up CH I inadvertantly climbed pistols as well, figuring wth, might as well train it. Now i'm master at both, and although I can take out a good majority of stuff on my own w/ a lvl 69 razor cat, it still seems i'm rediculously unefficient for things like pvp, and when up against things like SBD's and DW wraiths, and even force crystal hunters. No matter if fully buffed, on brandy/canape, ent buffs and all the other extras.

I admit I do retain novice medic and pharma 3.....keeping my high ham pets healed during combat makes life easier (and gives me more time to run away should I get in too deep). I'm not ready to drop pistoleer, i'm proud to have mastered it, and enjoy it for the most part. What I want to know is, would sacrificing novice medic (and essentially the ability to double heal a 12k ham pet), and picking up 0040 in smuggler make me more effective...not really in pvp persay, because CH will probably always be little more thanuseless for that, but as a combat pistoleer in general. Given my situation could the sacrifice be worth it? Are the gains such as intimidate and low blow and last ditch enough to make pistoleer morepowerful (and maybe more fun)? Does it add some sort of defense mechanic? Or should I just give up and go TKM? I love fighting beside my pets, so rifles isnt an option And with the combat rebalance not so far off (from what i've read screwing up all professions except CH which got it's shot in the ass in Jan),is iteven smart to be dabbling in new profs right now since they will all be different soon enough?

I am just trying to keep the game fun for myself...holding me over until JTL. I will never drop CH, so dont bother suggesting it lol. But any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would keep pharm 3. The smuggler dirty fighting line isn't worth it to your pets. I feel this very strongly.

I am TKM/MP/MS and i can tell you that there is no intimidation move for smugglers. Last ditch is only good on fast guns or people close to 90-100 pistol speed. Master pistoleers have +74 pistol speed. Considering the nerf to panic shot and even the nerf to feign death (it draws every creature in a 200 meter radius to you that you previously had aggroed), dirty fighting is useless.

You get near Last Ditch damage with Stopping Shot. FanShot and HealthShot2 are very very nice pistol specials in PvE.

About dropping pistoleer.. I am in the exact same boat as you except I'm considering dropping my triple mastery for BH pistols/MPist with investigation 3 and rifle dabbling just for defenses. If you love pistoleer then stay with it as I think pistoleers will get major love with the combat balance happening. TKM is however a very very nice alternative however....

My advice is to probably wait for the combat balance. Hopefully pistols will be more useful after that.

I am really afraid if I give up and drop pistoleer, it will finally be "fixed" with the revamp, and i'll regret having dropped it. Then again...I hate having never experienced any other combat profs, and can't imagine how i'd react if i were in a working, more powerful one..."god" complex comes to mind lol.

With req changes to BH being introduced i have come up with another template option...but my husband says it's crap, he is usually full of crap too so i'll ask yall what you think about it.

Keeping MCH...no question there

0030 pistoleer....to keep my geo pistol which i love, and stopping shot

0044 BH...for the BH pistol specials, and a LLC to add a new weapon/aspect to my game

and just enuff sp left over to keep novice medic (my doc alt can make some very nice m/u 5stim B's)

I realize I would lose out on a lot of things like dodge and some pistol speed....and body shot 3 (but i have read here that it isnt any more effective than BS2?) But id get to keep my healthshot2 which i really like, enuff medic to heal my pets (not as well, but i still get the double heal advantage), and id have the LLC which for some reason i have always wanted lol.

Sounds a lil crazy to me, but i have never done anything else besides ch and pistoleer. What would yall say are the pros and cons of such a risky template?

Sorry to keep buggin yall with this, but i ask my guildies and all theyever come up withis drop CH...lamers

Southwick...i never said anything about "solo'n" high end mobs. I have no desire (or stupidity) to go in the dwb alone. I am more interested in being able to better back up my guild. I'm not real interested in pvp either...and i dont wanna kill krayts by myself. Just wanted to add a lil more effectivness to my combat toon. I can solo hunt anything i NEED to now...hardest i go up against is enraged rancors. I dont need to be able to solo anything better than that...just wanna better backup my team in grp situations. I have more fun raiding with my guild then I ever did solo hunting.

So thanx for the comments, but you misenterpreted my intentions.

That's in the brawler prereq for smuggler.

You could be a MCH, TKM, and novice medic and still have 37 points left over. Everyone should go TKM at least once, just so they know what a profession is like when it works properly. And though TKMs are not so great at PvP what with the high-kinetic comp, it can still be fun. If you really want to be better at PvP and keep MCH, I'd recommend Fencer.

You are well aware that you are not supposed to be able to solo everything in the game?

That is why CH got its nerf in the first place.

YOu have a PVE Template, therefore it is not great for pvp..duh.

Sorry to sound like a jerk, but im tired of people complaining they cant solo high end mobs. Its a fluke that some can do it...not that you cant.

Agreed.. I'm wating for the combat balance. Just recently dropped BH, but I think I might be coming back.

Current Template - Pistoleer, TKA, Dirty 4, and 4/0/0/0 Fencer.

Any thoughts?

Last ditch is a great pistol move it deals a good bit of damage, but smuggler also get a nice little toy Feign death which is a life saver.
