Here is my template. Its not fully geared for pvp, but effective enough I think. Master Gunfighter, Master Smuggler, 4004 TKA, and 3000 Fencer. That puts me at 120 dodge, 164 melee (yeah I now after the cap most is wasted), and range def 109(123 with tapes/plates). Yeah I now Master Smuggler is useless for pvp... but I for some reason just cant give it up lol. Someone has to slice your junk afterall!

I think you all are going to have to get it through your head that after the caps these dabbling templates simply will not work well. If you don't master in any one combat profession you will be too watered down. It will be like this:


Dabbling in many to get maxed defences = a bunch of skills that are not maxed in offense and you may not get maxed toughnessand will not get mitigation 3 for both ranged and melee.


Mastering one or two combat professions= Maxed defences (if done right), higher offensive bonuses, higher toughness possible, and mitigation 3 offered in master titles.


Mitigation is damn nice, period, especially when everyones defenses will be capped and you are going to start to get pounded more. Also it just seems lame when someone doesn't bother to master anything. Every one profession just looks at them as dabblers but I know it within your right to do so it just looks like you will pay a cost now. Offense is going to start winning fights now not defense.

The point of this thread was pistoleer templates, so everyone was getting Ranged Mit 3. Many of the templates offered a melee mastery as well. You can still max defenses: in fact I have a template that is barely touched by the defense cap, yet is still stacked. Stacking will STILL be useful. Trust me, I f someone gets their ranged defense to + 125 and you are shooting them with only +95 pistol accuracy, you are going to end up in the cloning center unless you stack offense with BH or you add other defenses yourself.

I am heading towards:

Master Pistoleer, Master Smuggler, TKA 4-0-0-0, Fencer 3-0-4-0


I am almost there, the closer I get, the longer I am lasting in PVP battles, so I seem to be heading on the right path

Any advice on which 2 trees to get in pistoleer? I am going Master Smug/Grenadeer/some med and ill be able to fill 2 pistoleer trees. Im currently thinking 4040 or 0044.

im BH 0 3 4 0 and master pistoleer as of yesterday. But Melee takes me out real fast think i should try to take up some TKA or something that will help me with these pesky melee tefers??

Update for those not watching TC:



  • Added a cap to defensive skill mods (block, dodge & counterattack) to prevent near invulnerable defenders. (Correspondent Issue)

  • Looks like range and melee stacking are staying in for the time being.

    well thats good news for me at least.


    to the BH/pistoleer. i would still say keep your template. you will be able to hit stackers like more than anyone else. just get good armor and buffs and you wont need those extra skill points for defenses

    Due to the clarification on TC about which caps will be in place, I will be changing from:


    Master Pistol-Master TKA-Rouge-Fencer 4-0-3-0


    to


    Master Pistol-Master TKA-Rouge-Fencer 4-0-0-0-Range Support 3


    My dodge boxes became usless, as expected. Once the final combat rebalance happens (where range and melee defense stacking gets capped) , I will be going back to Master Pistol-BH Pistol 4.

    just curious... how do you make money?

    I will have a template almost identical to you when its finished (except ill put some tka skill points into rifle concealment line), but im feeling the pressure to master smuggler to have a steady income to buy sea's and stuff. which would take quite a bit of my skill points.

    cool thx. i wasnt sure if i would be able to hunt the high level mobs that i was when i was rifleman, as a pistoleer, so thats good news.
