Thanks, leafthemedic. Here's my post on the subject, with some handy links.

The intimidator pistol is alright looking. The rest of them are ugly as sin. They look like cheap 80's "futuristic" toy guns.

The intimidator is the only one they changed from pre-existing artwork, all the others are modeled directly from artwork available from the West End Games and Wizards of the Coast Star Wars RPGs. The Intimidator is in fact the wrong name for that gun, the change was to move the grip to the weapon's middle, as opposed to the end. Aside from that one change the Intimidator is in fact a model of the Kelvarek Consolidated Arms Dissuader KD-30, most recently depected on page 24 of the Wizards ot the Coast Arms and Equipment Guide for the d20 Star Wars Role Playing Game. The Intimidator itself is illustrated on page 9 of that same book, and both also appear in older West End Games publications. The Renegade has also been altered for SWG, in this case the change has been made to make the original design a far more practical one, as the original illustrations would have been impossible to actually grip (pg 11 of Wizard's Arms and Equipment guide).

That being said, I personally think they've picked pistolsthat unfortunately have the least believable illustrations to model from, and those Illustrations may have in fact been first drawn in the 80s for the West End Games version of the RPG! On the flip side of the coin, I am quite pleased that they are sticking to established weaponry as opposed to making things up when there is so much to draw from.

Hope we see some more vehicles from the existing illustrations next (well, next as far as fluff to keep me occupied goes), particularly some of the more interesting Swoops: The Overracer, Flare-S, FC-20, and JR-4 would make driving and racing a bit more interesting and personal.

If you don't want me to "play the forums," then I suggest you make time playing the game more rewarding and less repetitive than "playing" here!

Wow, most of them look a whole lot better there than they did in the initial screenies. Aside from the Death-Hammer (who modelled that, somebody's kid??), they don't look too bad! Nothing like the detail of the DE-10, but they'll do. And the Underslung Carbine looks amazing. Nice work!

Wait.. doesn't the Death-Hammer look kind of like that pistol that came with every third action figure back in the '70s/'80s? I don't think that anyone carried it in the movies, but it was the nice generic weapon they shipped with every character that never appeared with one. I always kind of hoped that it'd eventually appear in SWG. But um, not quite like that. :smileytongue

We smugglers have never been informed that we're getting a pistol. Quite the opposite, in fact. But as a representative of the Smuggler-community, I'll graciously accept one. A Renegade will do fine.
