Congrats LordMaxx. What is your template like and are you more of a PvP'er or PvE'er?

I'm just curious but how does someone who isn't even a regular or well known poster on the pistoleer boards (and by the sounds of it not even a pistoleer) get chosen to represent the community? Not to take anything away from Lordmaxx but surely there had to have been somebody who is already up to date on all of the issues and would be able to jump right into the fire to push the issues, instead of having to familiarize or re-familiarize themselves with them...?

...but anyway goodluck and congrats on the new position Lord

I can understand. Im also very interested in the TK profession because my toon has often been a TKM...for a while I played TKM/Master Pistoleer/Rogue.

As for my interest in the profession I always used pistols even in Beta 3 where we leveled up in groups of 20 taking down Kimogilas I wish my pistoleer on Valcyn was up to snuff for you djswift, but I had to beg on that server because it was not my main profession, best thing I have a is a speed sliced DX2. Now if you want to come to Chilastra and face down my DE-10 well... Cant say Im the best PVPer around (which pistoleer is?) But Ive known this profession for the entire life cycle of the game.

Knowing the issues? Id say I know the issues painfully well. And nothing much has been done to fix them except to say "wait for the combat balance" Well We have been waiting, the entire community as a whole has been waiting. I expect us to be the fastest ranged profession there is, I expect us to be deadly if we are within 16m of our target, and I expect us to be able to hold our own if some melee punk (hey I take offense myself at that!) tries to come in range of our deadly pistols...

How does a pistoleer defend against melee right now? not much considering we have no state attacks unless you hit up another prof. We try to kite, and we rely on the fact that our Republic Blasters have good range mods at 60m. Even though armor pretty much accounts for that too. I dont even want to pick one specific problem, but the devs want a "problem sheet" so we can show we know what is wrong. But I truly desire to take the combat balance as an opportunity to redesign our profession to be what it should have been in the beginning, Deadly Close Range Specialists.

I want the pistoleer profession to be what people start at and add other professions to. I dont want a Bounty Hunter to say...maybe Ill add on pistoleer, or some rifleman to pick up one line of pistoleer just for its defenses.

Most of our specials are redundant, or Do not work or do not fit within the scheme of Pistoleer.

We are suppose to be the fastest ranged profession, but currently its easier to speed cap a T21 then it is to speed cap a DE-10 And the T21 does way more damage.

Our choices for different damage types are still not up to snuff, with our limited damage we should at least have tactics on our side being able to use different damage types to unbalance opponents.

Lack of AP2 puts our place in group hunting as support roles meaning, hope we have good medic skills. On the big Krayt hunts, or nightsister hunts, what is the pistoleers responsibility? what should it be? I would like to see us more in control of the tactical situation by being allowed to supply states, while the big guns help take the enemy down.

I hope this helps explain where I am coming from. Over on the TK boards they recently had a correspondent take over, and his first post to those boards was his introductory message. He then proceeded to post about once a week or so...I will not be this type of correspodent. I will be here every day (just about Life happens you know ) And my PMs will always be answered. Im hoping people like you djswift can help in the sandbox and really bring a positive change to the pistoleer profession.

The Pistoleer boards have always been stickied in my forums section and Ive kept an eye out, or tried to help when I could. The unfortunate truth is, the pistoleer profession has not gone very far, and not for want of a good correspondent, RandonB was trying very hard to get the eye of the devs to give some attention to the pistoleer profession. And he was a great correspondent, but the game was just getting old to him. I hope that he can return in a few months and pick up the trade again and be proud of the work we will do.

What got me the job? who knows that really did it. I am a software engineer, I know what goes into testing software, and I understand the development cycle programs of this magnitude have to go through in order to change even the smallest thing. That may have helped. Ive also been active on several profession boards and therefore I feel I have a great understanding of "the big picture" I have never just grinded a profession. Ive Played several professions learning and knowing their inner strengths and outer cracks. I feel I know this game inside and out down to the little numbers that calculate just how fast your pistol should be firing.

If any of you has any doubt to my love for this profession, I hope I can ease your doubts, feel free to PM me...PM me and Ill even send you my aim and MSN addresses and you can feel free to talk to me about your concerns for this profession. Im busy working during the day, but often have time for a quick chat.

thanks for reading, and I hope I can help this profession out.

I probably hunted right next to you in Beta 3. Outside of running across naboo testing deliver missions for a week, I don't think I ever left Lok. The best was when we found Kimos couldn't climb cliffs so we'd just stand on top and pick them to pieces...sure one out of every 5 might eventually figure out how to get to the top and whipe us all out (since no one had armor), but it was all fun and good...at least we had speeders and we didn't have to go collect items off our corpses...oh wait..

No the best delivery missions were the ones on talus, you knew you could get a long distance delivery and just go back and forth between the two cities earning about 1500 a pop...of course now Jantas are dieing by the score due to the sheer magnitude of hunters killing them for Jabba and Valerian.

As for the Kimogilas...those wierdos who were actually trying to do TK kept getting stomped while we kited the thing.

edit: isnt it time the UN stepped in and stopped this mass janta/mokk genocide?

I still remember my first delivery mission in beta. Started out in Theed and spent a good 45m-1hr going from Theed to nearly Kaadara. Granted I was amazed at how vast the landscape was, but when I was less than 100m away from the delivery point and I got the "mission failed...time expired" message when I didn't stop the whole way I was pissed.

And, the Empire would have been happy to blow away Dant, so I doubt they care about a few guys in animal skin with sticks and rock knives. Speaking of which...what did the Jantas & Mokkskill to get those threads...it certainly wasn't from Dant.
