Ahh, that's ok. It was just a friendly anyways. We all know the record the US has against England in actual World Cup games.

You have a football (soccer) team in the US?

your team just beat them last Saturday!

Remember the last World Cup? The US got as far as the English team did. You lost to Brazil, we lost to Germany (damn refs in that one, when a ball hits a non-keeper's elbow on the goal line, it is a PENALTY!!!) If you were Portuguese, you'd know the US has a team! Beasley ain't got skill, but he's got speed, and he ran poor Figo up and down the line all game long.

lol!!! that's foosball.

don't worry, the fan pressure forced our league to abandon that stupid #($*@#( shootout crap in the 3rd year of the league. Thankfully, a draw is a draw now.

Come on, our league isn't -that- bad now. It's becoming a feeder league for the European leagues. Even Beckham has said he might finish up his playing time in the US, like Youri Djorkaeff is doing now.

How is soccer going over there then? The last time I visited it had a lot of competition from "Football" and Baseball.

the regular league games draw about what your 2nd tier and 3rd tier leagues draw (what are those called now, Coca-Cola Championship and ???.) Speaking of which, sorry to see Preston not win the final promotion spot. One of ourboys plays for them.) Our national team draws pretty well, mostly because America has soooo many people here of all nationalities, and the only chance these people get to see their old country's team play in person is when they play against the US. Take the game last weekend. There were banners all around the stadium for all the club teams in England. It really looked like an England home game. The crowd was supportive of both teams though, as tends to be the case in our home matches. Overall, it was a fun game to watch. You should be happy, as you're about a year away from having a left footed winger that can cross and take free kicks like Beckham can from the right wing. Kieran Richardson looks like the real deal. He just needs a little more experience, which I'm not sure Sir Alex is going to give as long as Giggs is roaming the left for Man Utd. so he'll probably still get loaned out.

Hockey is great too, unfortunately no season this year. Too bad, as Tampa is my team, and I was all ready for a title defense season!

The Quakes are doing mediocre this year (3-3-4 for 13 pts so far). They lost Landon Donovan to Bayer Leverkusen, and when he came back to the US, he signed with Los Angeles (Galaxy, not the Chivas USA team.) They've also had a couple of other injuries to good players (losing one for the year.) However, since this is America, and we can't have a champion without some playoff structure, the Quakes are still in a playoff spot. It's sad really. We have 12 teams, and 8 of them make the playoffs. Should just be 4 teams if you're gonna have a playoff.

The biggest difference in America and England in terms of domestic football is the Cup tournament. The FA Cup is a HUGE deal in England. The US Open Cup is barely noticed by the fans here. Same with the international competitions. Our version of the Champions League isn't really noticed either, while the real Champion's League is another huge affair, and we even get to see that one live here in the US (well, I didn't because I was at work.)

Goodbye my love, goodbye. Losing ground is what it takes if you really want to fly.
