Q. How does Pistol Speed work? Is there a cap to pistol speed?
A. (WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) - (WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) * (PistolSpeed/100)
And if result < 1.0s , result = 1.0s

------------------------------

can this formula be right. The reason im asking is if u have pistol speed 100, then the weaponspeed

means nothing, cuz the result will always be zero. Hence a pistol with speed 1.0 or 4.0 will have the same

delay if your pistolspeed is 100.

i.e. (1.0*6.0) - (1.0*6.0)/(100/100) = 6.0 - (6.0)*1 = 6.0 - 6.0 = 0

(4.0*6.0) - (4.0*6.0)/(100/100) = 24.0 - (24.0)*1 = 24.0 - 24.0 = 0

Need to add the info for kip-up/roll/dive-shot in here =). As bodyshot2 has proven just because it's in the pistoleer tree doesn't mean it's superior.

That was a great post Jaegen, but the info on PvP leaves me trembling at the knees, Im working up the skill tree to be a pistoleer but see no major targeted mind pool shots listed as deadly PvP in the post. Everybody knows when your fighting PvP there are medics around healing health. (or when fighting a doc) Is there a good pistol shot that drains mind pool signifantly? If so what type of max dmg are we looking at?

hi

is again Bodyshot3 after the big patch doing less damage in comparison with Bodyshot2?

And, at the end....what's bes combo combination?

I usually do a first HealtShot2 and then series of BodyShot2 (since BS3 is less)....do u have other combos?

I am only posting this because I have not seen it mentioned in this thread or any of the few I have read. You may already know this but if you don't I hope this will help you. As you know the amount of damage Health Shots hit for initially, is random. This random amount that the shot hits for is what determines the damage per tick of the bleed. Anotherwords if I see I hit for a low amount intially I will reapply the Bleed so that my damage per tick will be higher. Hope this helps.

Just a question, the figures for the various special attacks bear very little relation to the list of special attack values in the Strategy Guide.... did they change radically just before launch?

BS1/2/3, for instance, are all listed as delay mod 1, with 2, 3, and 4x damage.

this formula cant be right.

If the formula is right then all special shot @ +100 pistol speed would be 1s. I'm guessing the formula might be:

(Weaponspeed - weaponspeed * pistolspeed/100) * specialdelaymod

Still at that piont pistol speed does not matter only special delay mod

Sure it can be correct. Your conclusion is also correct. I don't know any way to determine if it's correct or not, other than testing..and that's what we did (more than just me confirmed it). This is why we think it needs to be fixed

Greetings,

Great FAQ. As for stopping shot, does it become the best overall pistoleer attack once pistol speed is at or greater than 100? I got a newFWG5 this morning that was crafter with a wonderful powerup, and with a 33% powerup it was 51-466 1.8 speed or in thereabouts.

For your amusment, I've posted a screenshot of it in action. I am rapidly approaching the 100 speed cap and I think that when I reach it, stopping shot will be lovely. =)

What do you think?

Using the new mob dropped components in crafting has been yielding FWG5s with damages around 250ish, so 400-430 max damage on an FWG5 with a good slice and a good powerup is going to become more common.

But don't forget - the same holds true for other weapons... Basically the arms race just got hotter.

And you wouldn't need to get to 100 (and over would do nothing) for stopping shot to become as fast as fan shot (it catches up to it when it hits the max of 1.0 speed). Depending upon your weapon, somewhere in the 70s or 80s would be all you need for pistol speed skill.

The formula posted is incorrect, and I can verify that. I have over 100 in pistol speed, and therefore no matter which special I use it should be 1 second. This is just not the case, nor do I think it should be, nor do I think it was designed to be.

I love the data you're getting us, but where did this come from?

Basically with this formula your speed is pretty much capped at +80 or even lower because of the speed of pistols etc, results start being lower than 1.0 seconds at even low levels of pistol speed.

Keteck_Toch ,

I really want a $1 for everyone of these posts Kidding, of course. I have seen no data, nor experienced anything in game, that isn't comprehended by the formula we posted. Also, see the thread:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pistoleer&message.id=4830

A number of other people posted their results too (all in support).

Test yourself, you are firing ANY pistol you pick up, coupled with any special attack, at 1.0 seconds. Everyone with +100 speed I know, does the same.

If it's wrong, by all means, let's get it fixed, but I haven't run into a case where it didn't work, nor anyone elses test data to show it's incorrect.

Here is the original test post:

PISTOL SPEED

I had this last night, got too tired to post.

This was test data from round 1 compared to round 2 (when I used a faster weapon)

(rounded to tenths)

ROUND1 (Already posted this in that chart)

Pistol Speed = +74
CDEF Speed = 4.0
Normal Attack = 1.0 seconds per shot
Double Tap = 2.2 seconds per shot
Stopping Shot = 4.2 seconds per shot

ROUND2 (I took these last night)

CDEF Speed = 3.1 (Speed power up, same pistol)
Normal Attack = 1.0 seconds per shot
Double Tap = 1.7 seconds per shot
Stopping Shot = 3.2 seconds per shot

=======================================================
So, from that, we have:

Minimum attack speed = 1.0 second (we knew this from other folks posts)

Attack speed formula:

(WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) - (WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) * (PistolSpeed/100)
And if result < 1.0s , result = 1.0s

So using my data:
Stopping Shot:
(4.0 (CDEF speed) * 4.0 (stopping shot delay, see top of chart) ) - (4.0 * 4.0) * (0.74)
16-11.84 = 4.16, rounded to tenths = 4.2 seconds for stopping shot. Which matches my test data.

Double Tap:
(4.0 * 2.1) - (4.0 * 2.1) * (0.74)
8.4-6.22 = 2.18 rounded to tenths = 2.2 seconds for double tap. Which matches my test data.

So predicted speed for stopping shot using a 3.1 CDEF is:
(3.1 * 4.0) - (3.1 * 4.0) * 0.74
12.4 - 9.18 = 3.22s, rounded to nearest tenth = 3.2 seconds (Matches test above)

So predicted speed for double tap using a 3.1 CDEF is:
(3.1 * 2.1) - (3.1 * 2.1) * 0.74
6.51 - 4.81 = 1.69s, rounded to nearest tenth = 1.7 seconds (Matches test above)
