Unless it has been fixed I was under the impression that when fighting someting with armor the AP was broken.

ap defintly works, at light and medium, you dont really notice much of a difference, but heavy, you notice. so i personally cant wait to get a dx2

Actually I am at novice pistoleer 0000 but marksman 0404 and I hardly miss with my DX2 its actually my preffered weapon at the moment. Even over my krayt sliced FWG. Reason? more things have protection on heat over acid.

dx2's have only become good after the mitigation patch for pvp. I use dx2 and tangle for pvp. Never use anything else really. Also the scatters used to be way better cause they could use two components and now they are just alittle better than a dx2 but both are very similar and both are ugly.

Heres the difference GKar my DX2 has a min damage of 128 without a powerup that mean when im fighting someone with ranged mitigation 3 I am doing higher average damage then with a FWG 5 plus its AR1 and acid damage. For PvE the fwg 5 is great but for dueling its not as good.

You know what, I'd like to see some real numbers to compare weapons. We can go on all day with each person saying how dx2 is king or dx2 sucks. First of all, every weapon sucks to someone. one person says fwg's suck, another says dx2 sucks, someone else says tangles suck.....see my point. It's all about how you like to play.....if you like to kite at 60m, any gun with a range modifier less than that will not be foryou.....if you like to get in close any gun is effective, but the dx2 is the most effective. Most people understand that the range modifier on the dx2 sucks....but that modifier by itselfdoes notmeanthat you will miss more. You still have lots of other things that you have to put into the equation to determine how much you miss. The biggest modifier to me that determines whether you miss more is movement. It doesn't matter what gun I have, if i'm running around, I miss 50% more than if I stand still.


Again, I will say that each weapon has it's purpose. The better weapons in the game are not interchangable. you can't substitute a fwg with a dx2 and have it be as effective from long ranges and you can't substitute a dx2 with a fwg and have it be as effective at close ranges. each weapon has it's weakness. so there is no true king of the pistoleer weapons. However, I would like someone to post some factual numbers on the weapons because that's the only real way you can tell the performance of each. I would do it myself, but frankly I'm not in the mathematical mood right now, maybe later.


The best weapon for a person also depends onyour style of play, how you like to attack your target. For example, 90% (just an esitmate) of pistoleers that say the dx2 sucks hate to fight in close combat. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to use a pistoleer, but the fact is that pistoleer are a "short ranged" profession. Just because we are titled as aranged professiondoesn't mean we were meant to fight at 60m. Actually, through physics alone we should be doing less damage at range. those republic blasters and fwg's that you can kite your enemy with are not suppose to be the standard fighting range of a pistoleer.You'll probably see that get nerfed next patch.But the devs have let it slide, so everyone seems to thing that if a pistol doesn't measure up to those pistols that are already over powered when they shouldn't be, then the gun sucks. So now the problem is not that the dx2 sucks, but that it is compared to guns that should not be doing what they do now. No pistol should be effective at more than 40m period(48m by devs standards in the game).


Bottom line is pistoleers are spoiled....they are babies that cry because they can't have their bottle to suck on. they whine because mom leaves the house and they want to go too. This is what the pre-nerfed weapons did to pistoleers. Now they think that all weapons should be equal to or close to what the previous weapons were. IF they are not, then they label them and say they suck. I'll tell you what sucks.....when you "HAVE" to get intomelee range of something that's running away from you just to get a lick in (being kited)....now that sucks.........but when you actually do get into that range, you almost unstoppable.


Another problem is that most people equate the range modifiers as the only number that matters in accuracy.....actually you can miss just as much with any weapon if you are not in it's ideal range. If the range modifier made such a big difference in a dx2 missing due to having such a short range......then why isn't the fwg missing as much from 60mwhen it's highest positive modifier is at 20m (it actually does miss a lot if people pay attention to it). Basically, a fwg should be just as ineffective at ranges higher than 20m as a dx2 is at ranges higher than 0. That's where the comparison really shows and why the dx2 is considered inferior.


anyway.....point is, if you only use 1 or 2 types of weapons in all your battles, you are short changing yourself. You are not as effective as you may think. Just because you have a weapon thatis 500 maxdamagedoes not mean that gun is the best in all situations. 500 max can easily become25 - 50max when you shoot a FS Npc who has 80% resist across the board and medium armor. Wish that fwg had armor peircing now don't you?

hmmmmm yeah, i love my dx2, but in the right instance. i carry 7 pistols on me where ever i go, at all times.

examining ur target is a must - tbh it raises my back when u try and tell ppl they should carry all sorts of pistols, only to have them say back - "why, my republic rocks, far better than a dx2" - sigh!!

anyway that aside, i know, if im goin after something thats vounrable to acid, dx2 is applied, and once it is, im goin in for close range combat. sayin that, when i do fire my dx2 from afar, it rarely misses.

tbh i like all the pistols, just wish our server could make slightly better tangle n striker pistols, my best striker ive got is 179 max dmg with 1.9 spd. i forget the other stats cos im not in game but u get the idea.

as for my dx2, ive got a POST nerf low tissue krayt pushing around 270 max dmg on a 2.0 spd, or is it 1.9 - hell who cares.

anyway, to sum up, doesnt matter what p[istols u dont like using, u most always need to carry every range of pistol with u all the time. what happens when ur in pvp with someone whos got 80% special protection to heat and all you have on you is ur trusty fw............?

same rules apply in pve.

im also near master rifleman, and again i carry all types of rifle, cos everything has its resists and vounrabilities. sayin that tho, i find the t21 punches thro most of everything with its heavy AP.

since few days i use 2.4 speed, 196-470 damage dx2 and its realy killer in pvp with such minimal damage

ACCURACY, ACCURACY, ACCURACY!!! Acid damage and armor piercing mean nothing if you miss your target.


Way too frustrating to use that weapon.

I use a DX2 alot and rarely Miss. Once you actually Master Pistoleer you miss alot less.
