Thread: Testing the Combat Balance Sandbox Server [THANKS TO ALL APPLICANTS]

I'd really like the opportunity to test the new pistoleer changes and I think I could be very helpful to the pistoleer community.

I've been a pistoleer since I started playing the game in August. I am a master pistoleer on Valcyn. I have never dropped the profession entirely, the only time I have dropped master pistoleer was for about a week because I wanted to see why people complained so much about the grind to master. I am very dedicated to the pistoleer profession, I even had one of the first DE-10's crafted on Valcyn.

I feel I know a great deal about the pistoleer profession, I think I demonstrated some of my knowledge in my pistoleer pvp guide. The link to the guide is in my sig. In addition to knowing the lone pistoleer profession, I have tried every popular pistoleer combat template. I have a thorough knowledge of professions to complement pistoleer.

My activity on TC has been limited, I have a couple of characters on the server, but I only log in on them every couple of weeks. If you gave me the opportunity to test the combat balance though, I would be much more active in the testing process.

Thank you for the chance to throw in my application Randonb. I hope you choose the right people for testing (which I hope includes me )

Well I thought I might as well apply, I do <3 the TC

  • Date of first Pistoleer post (post history tells all) - 3 months ago according to the tracker, but I don't tend to post a lot on the proffession forums, most of my posts are GAT/Discussion era'ish (before they closed the General boards)
  • Whether you have mastered the profession - Mastered about 4-5 months ago, stuck with it too. I've done 17 other proffessions (not hologrinding) and I don't know why, but just stuck with pistoleer, it's the most fun I've had in a proffession since before commando was nerfed lol.
  • Past conduct in the community - Well I haven't been banned if that's what you mean! Other then that what are you looking for? As you can see by my post count I do come here a lot.
  • Past activity on TC - I pretty much live on the TC now as my main server, my name's Evenik, I'm usually jamming in the NU cantina.
  • Quality of application post - Okay

  • Oh and when are you choosing this stuff by?

    Randonb,

I am interested in assisting in the Sandbox.

I started playing back on July 4th, 2003, went right for pistoleer/ranger, which I have mastered both. Only last week did I drop ranger so I can try out the pistol tree in BH. I'll admit, I don't recall my posting history on the Pistoleer forums, but I spend most of the time on the Sunrunner boards. I also play religiously on TC1 and TC2, where the testing for Pub 10 lifted my spirits for the future direction of this game. I run three characters on TC1 and 1 on TC2, only because of the recent character wipe to assist in the testing process.

My build of pistoleer/ranger is used for 99% PvE. After playing for over a year as two of the most broken professions in the game, I feel that I could contribute greatly to how improvements can be made in both the pistoleer and ranger professions.

As I primarily consider myself a pistoller and have proudly displayed that title above my head for almost a year, I fell that I would be an excellent addition to the team with the other fine candidates you will provide for testing.

And yes, there is plenty of space on my hard drive for another download.

    Thanks for your consideration!

I would like the oppotunity to throw my name into the mix.

I will admit, I am not currently Master Pistoleer. I play this game 80% for just PvP. I have been forcedby some of the recent changes to drop Master Pistol and pick up some melee. I still have 0040, but just for the defenses.

However, pistoleer was the first profession I mastered and I pvp'd with it quite effectively for a solid 8 months. I started this game just after launch and, although I rarely if ever make posts in this forum, I have always tried to do everything I can in my servers forums to keep upbeat and enthusiastic about every facet of this game. I am well respected on my server and regarded as a decent player to fight against.

I would be able to devote about 3 hours per day to testing and would be very objective as to the changes. It is my belief that the only thing missing from this game is the balancing that so many people are looking forward to. PvP fights that last more than five seconds, PvE creatures that must have groups to defeat them. No FOTM's or "I win" buttons. This is what I would like to help achieve.

In closing, I believe some of the strategies that I have learned would help ensure that any testing is well-thought out and advantages/disadvantages looked at from all angles.

    Thanks for your time.

    1) I've always been a pistoleer and i love it.
    2) I RPG
    3) I've tested other games before
    4) I'm smarter then 99% of everyone playing this game. I act and sat scores to prove it.
    5) I'm a ranger, and rangers dont get much love
    6) Because i feel like making the game better
    7) I've had this game over 1 year, and only have mastered 4 proff. 3 of them are basic ones.
    8) I'm here to have fun.
    9) I always get my ass kicked in pvp so i think i would know a lot about how to make pistoleers have a chance.
    10) Well, because I just want to.

p.s. I love you Randonb JK, unless you feel the same.

    *takes of blinders*

well, my first post on here was a loooooooooong time ago

just checked with the search tool and it seems i don't know how to use it lol

i started as a scout/marksman and picked up pistols and that was it- from the beginning i believed that the force was nothing compared to a blaster at your side, and i've stuck with it through thick and ticker and, yeah that too

from launch i wanted to go ranger/pistoleer, but ended up going bio-engineer/pistoleer- go figure lol. i'm currently on the verge of setting up my be vendors to sustain themselves for a bit while i grind up be on another character so i can pick up some commando/bounty hunter- so far my only combat is master pistoleer, so i know pistoleer more than most i think

i got novice in august and had to leave for a few months and came back at the end of october and actually didn't start actively posting on the boards till about that time (i think lol), since then i've just read enough so that i can post and give advice, discuss complex bugs, and share in the peril that is the life of a master pistoleer

i've done testing on live a few times, but i actually haven't tested on test center whatsoever so if this will count against me, i'm just gonna put that out in the open right now

i know how combat timing, combat defenses, attacks, modifiers, states, DOT's etc. work and i often fight unarmored or with different armors (my favorite is chitin) so i'm not constrained to buffed/composite-wearing behemoth style fighting, i've learned some tricks to win a fight when the odds were horribly stacked against me

ps. i haven't vied for a sandbox server for be, i only want pistoleer

    # Date of first Pistoleer post (post history tells all) <- No clue, been reading for a while though !

    # Whether you have mastered the profession <- Yes, twice (d'uh.), plus spent some time with the BH pistol line.
Also went for the TKA/Smuggler/Pistoleer full template a while ago. So i can say i've handled a few pistols to their extents.

    # Past conduct in the community <- Erm well, i'm quite sociable i guess

    # Past activity on TC <- During publish 8 to 10

    # Quality of application post <- /shrug

Provided i've been a master pistoleer for months (NO, I WON'T SURREND IT. NEVER. xD), i'd like to be helpful with the future changes on the one profession i've been enjoying since my first day ; and of course, provide good feedbacks on these changes.

I'd be glad to help out on the Combat Balance. I've been a Master Gunfighter since before our master title was changed to Master pistoleer...I know it wasn't a great long time ago, but it's been awhile. I also didn't rush through obtaining master status, if that counts for anything.

First Pistoleer Board Post: October 28, 2003

Master Pistoleer since May 12, 2004

I've been rather quiet unless I'd really had some type of problem, otherwise adapt and overcome.

As it came to playing on TC, I played a bit when they loaded the Corbantis server on to TC, and then I've dabbled a bit on and off on TC, but nothing hard on target.
