Sooooooooooooooooo...why should I be able to shoot past 25 with fair accuracy you asked me ? Do you prefer RP answer or GamePlay one ? Maybe scientific one after all ?

RP answer

In SWG, most famous Smugglers, Bounty Hunters, BodyGuards, Duelists and even Assassins were all Pistol Users. In fact, their pistols were so accurate AND dealt so intense damage they were not only extremly accurate at medium ranges but were also able to hit further than regular sight, thanx to scopes. True benefit of their pistols were their weight, very easy to handle and fast moving. It was even possible for the bests of them to hit a flying target at more than 150m while running (but their run speed was the main factor of accuracy decrease, of course).

Btw, they were able to shoot much further than 64m with perfect ease. Keep in mind those pistols aren't projectile based but ray based, so there is minimal influence of attraction with those guns.

In SW, most common type of ranged weapons are Pistols, from VERY far and there is a reason : fast, powerfull and accurate.


GamePlay Reason

Never heard about kitting ? You know, the fact you can keep yourself at a faire distance from a potential opponent hitting him for 3 times his best pool without risking any retaliation ? If pistoleer maximum range is 25m, Carbineer and Riflemen would not only be able to One Shot them (especially Riflemen) but they also would be able to do it several times (only one is needed) before their target get a tiny chance to hit them. Pistoleers are the lowest dmg dealer in the game from far (I've said PISTOLEERS - not pistol users) mainly because they were supposed to be the fastest range attacker. They aren't, everyone knows this, even you (not a tiny thing to say).

Now, you should realise pistoleers aren't accurate at 40+ range...in fact they are but their pistols aren't (keep in mind it is the weapon accuracy that is relevant here, not its user one, this is where you seem to fail to understand). Our perfect range is often 0 to 20 m, we loose huge accuracy at higher ranges. Now we have some bonuses while moving you don't have, not our fault someone is stupid enought to believe he should be as accurate as a Pistoleer while moving with a Laser Rifle...

As I said earlier, pistols in SWG aren't using "projetiles" but ray based weapons...this ray velocity with its weight (very small weight you know - negligible actually) make it almost immune to gravitation...thus, why should there be an accuracy loss with distance exactly ? This ray could keep its route for ages without even notice it.

I don't think you understand how gravitation works but the thing you have to understand is : if something is very light weighted and go very fast, there must be a HUGE force to make it change its course.
