They have great defenses and have enough skill points to master a useful profession such as creature handler, squad leader, doctor, combat medic, ranger.
I'd have to disagree with this also. Just about every combat profession can master another profession as well.
I'd also like to take your idea of just a plain master pistoleer against another plain master of another combat profession and see what happens. Pistoleer will likely lose to everyone. Reason being, our damage is one of the lowest of them all and just about everyone else can shoot as fast as we can.
As far as beingan asset to groups? Anything worth taking in a large group has medium armor and high resists to every damage type we can dish out. I feel useless in a group doing such small damage. And, despite our "good" defenses, we still get beaten down pretty quick.
My one and only combat class has been Master Gunfighter, and the rest of my points have been tied up as a Master Doctor. I only log on to pvp, and as just a gunny I can kill any other master class with no problems. I am not saying that as a gunny I can come out on top every time, I do die every so often. But it is rare, and I thank my uber gear for that. An aset in groups you say?...........I solo what large groups can't take. I go to the geo caves and solo my way to the back and pass dead people all over the place that keep asking me in tells how I do it.I solo AT-ST's with a DX2, turrets too. You just need the right weapons/armor/buffs/food and this class is outstanding. Sure there are a lot of broken skills, but if you look past them you can use them to your advantage. With a DX2 I can use Gutt Shot (BS3) and solo an AT-ST, of course I have a huge mind pool and I use an awful lot of stims but it can be done. I have been a gunny since launch week, I know this class all too well.
People spend so much time complaining about the pistoleer class that they don't go out and exsperience the true potential of it. There is a new imperial guild on ahazi that once had 4 bases that I would farm at. I would go there daily and kill dozens of stormies and then I would take out their turrets on my own for the upcoming base raid. Their players would slowly but surely show up and I can hold my own against 5-7 of them and all of their stormie spawns. You just have to know how to play the class, I am slowly but surely making it a known fact on ahazi that this pistoleer is one that no master class wants to mess with.
We have +105 dodge, stormies never touch me. We have a lot of speed, I spam specials at the one second speed cap. We have health bleeds and body shot, all of which allows us to solo large creatures. We have so many different types of pistols to use in our arsenal, we have one to use for each different type of situation. Our own kd (pistol whip) and our own area attacks (fan shot and PBA 1 & 2). DMG mit 3 is pretty nice too, my arch enemy Primo hit me in a little battle with last ditch at 200 points (loving dmg mit 3) and my stopping shot (less powerful attack) hits him for 500.
Since I am almost late for work I can add a dozen screenies later that prove our class is badass, you just need to learn how to get past all of the bs that makes it seem horrible.
Veehawk, I point you in the direction of the Master Pistoleer Speed Cap thread, where I just pointed out you're not speed capped.
Then I'd like to point out that direct HAM shots deal zero damage to structures, yes this means that body, leg, head eye and torso shotare all useless against lairs and more importantly, turrets.
Also you're combat ability is down to your being a doctor and not a pistoleer. A doctor rifleman would bend you over without question.
Did I ever say that I use them on a structure? Why on earth would anyone use one on a structure? I use stopping shot from a DX2 when I solo turrets, and Gut shot takes out AT-ST's effortlessly. Since my friend is a master doctor/master rifleman and I kill him just as easily as anyone else, you might want to do some more research instead of trying to call me out. You point me in the direction of a thread that I have already posted under twice?

if you have to stim constantly, then your not killing atst's effortlessly. when i was a rebel i used to use my LP to kill ATST's adn could down them in under a minute using stopping or last ditch without having to stim. you should consider looking at tyour gun damage types adn range mods and stop relying on your ability to stim yourself for over 1000 damage. your combat ability IS based on your doctor abilities.
I dropped master doctor a week ago, hence why it is no longer in my sig.I have 87% base armor, an AT-ST can barely scratch me. When I gave my janta buff packs to my good master doctor friend to buff me with for a really nice ham.......it isn't that hard. Using a DX2 with over 300 dmg makes it really easy to take out it's health with gut shot. Try it some time, it isn't that hard.

Bodyshot 3? Hm.
A lot of people tell me that it doesn't work and that it is useless, in my opinion it is my best attack next to fan shot. It has always worked for me, in pvp it is great for taking out ones health pool after the health bleeds and it works really well after our pistol whip kd dmg mult. It isn't very powerful, in pve it hits for 800-2,500 depending on which pistol I use and the resists/armor rating of the con. In pvp it won't do much good against someone who has dmg mit 3 and full buffs/armor. But for peeps running around unbuffed with no armor you can drop them really quickly with it. Also, I am trying to get all of my fellow pistoleers on ahazi to get into the habit of using a DX2 on AT-ST's and using gut shot, it works wonders.
I must agree, I have been out many times with a friend of mine to go hunting and what not. He is a Master Swords Man, and before I can even dent a HAM bar he has chopped the MOBs mind to peices. Its almost embarassing. For the most part I stick to soloing at least I feel like I am accomplishing somthing. When I am with a group esspeciallywith a hand to hand prof I look completly impotent. Funny I had always thought that Star Wars was supposed to be about blasters and ranged combat, not up in your face. I love the genre but the way the Devs have it, this is just Dungeons and Dragons in space.
