This doesn't include the fact that you can have 3 (48 pistol speed)boxes in the master pistol special abilities line and have master marksman (+5 pistol speed) and still reach the cap with (53 pistol speed). You can also have armor attachments and clothing attachments that can cap your pistol speed before you reach master. Again, making the speed from master pistoleer irrelevant.


I only stated all of this because most people I know if not all use pistols with 2.0 speed or less.


But like I said, the other things you pick up from the master pistoleer box are worth it....just the speed don't mean anything by the time you get master.





I think you fail to see the weapon delay from using specials. I'm not sure where it would factor in, but it seems you overlooked it.





Actually, No I didn't forget about the speed when using specials.....I just forgot to put it in this post. I did however include a statement about it in a previous post that I wrote in another thread that was basically about weapon speed right before I posted my above post.....I thought I wrote that here as well. Guess I didn't.


One other thing though, having more speed means spamming specials will cost you to spend HAM Faster....I can't tell you how many times I've watched a deul and the guy who was spamming specials loses because he helped his opponent drain his own HAM.....by spamming specials so much. Of course this all depends on your HAM, HAM cost of your weapon and how often your specials are hitting vs misses.

No the +20 gives you alot more speed, don't listen to him. You have to have master pistoleer for it even to be effective, Believe me i actually have master pistoleer i know it makes you faster. Hardwired that formula just doesnt make sense, if you had fast guns you would basically be buying your skills, believe me SOE would not make it so master pistoleer is not worth getting. My guns are 1.4 450 RB, 1.4 400 fwg5, and .6 275 scout. Something is missing from that formula.

Disarmingshot2 has a nice AoE(unintended?) sideeffect. Target a base. DA2 spam it. Watch the damage numbers over the heads ofthe rebs/imps in the cone. You'll see what I mean.

Fanshot does too, with better damage than Disarm2.


But get master if your that close. You can surrender it in a week, and keep the title in your Bio! It's not a great reason, but come on...It may save you some grief later on down the road as well, if you decide you want to give Jedi a try.


None of these are great reasons, but I think you should grab it. All that Pistol XP is no good in the carbine line...Just get it.

I dropped Master Gunfighter for Carbineer. I am a master CM and didn't dabble so when I was gunfighter all I had was pistoleer specials. In my experience I'm having much more fun as a carbineer and I feel much more effective, even as a low level carbineer.


The best part of pistoleer was fan shot, with agood gun I was wiping out mobs like it wasn't **edit**. PMD wasn't cutting it for me though and I wanted some real knockdown attacks. So I'm a carbineer now, charge shot is a dominant special and I have to say it should probably be nerfed. I can knock down virtually anything almost whenever I want. Really helps for both PVP and PVE. Action shot 1 and 2 are great, like health shot except they can lower target's posture.


If Charge Shot 2 gets fixed (Carbineer has broken specials in a big way) I'll have an area knockdown attack, which will be sick. The HAM costs are as bad as you've heard however. I used to use food to get by when I couldn't finda doc doing buffs but after I dropped all pistol skills I dabbled enough of doc to do buffs so now I can spam specials with no ham cost.


What I like about carbineer is it uses more dynamic attacks than pistoleer IMO. Pistoleer for me was HS2/HS1 followed by either stopping shot or fan shot spam. Or BS3 if health was low on my target. Carbineer is more dynamic, I have to actually use judgement on what special to use. Play my cards right and I'll keep the target from ever getting in striking range of me in PVE. Plus I got a no timer KD for PVP.

Very well worth it for one reason...Carbineer sucks.


I would know, I amone and i'm dropping it for Pistoleer.

After looking at the HAM costs of other weapons I have decided that mastering pistoleer is definatly worth it for me at least since Im prety close to master comabt medic. Rifles eat mind pool way too fast, carbines are a bit too draining on action and Im not into healing myself all the time in a gorup, pistols don't eat a lot of anything up (at least the two I have) and tend to be faster than other weapons unless you find a realy good rifle or carbine, which gets the specials out of the que faster to get heals out.

No.....master pistoleer is worth getting very much so......it's better than Master Rifleman and Master Carbineer in my opinion.....well I shouldn't say Carbineer as I've never been a master carbineer, I just go by what i've heard about the insane HAM cost of carbineer.

As far as the forumla......that is the basic formula fornormal shots, not specials. Their is time modifiers that also are calculated in the formula that change the speed at which you fire specials. The time modifiers aredifferent for each special. For example, there is a 2.5 second time modifier for Stopping Shot which basically is added on top of your normal speed. I can't find all the formula's right now. They are posted in these forums somewhere though. I believe its in Marksman or rifleman forums......maybe even the games guides. I really don't remember where.....it was a long time ago I read about it.


Also the speed of your weapon alonedoes not make you shoot specials any faster. Therefore you are not buying your skills. It's mainly your "speed skill mod" and the "timemodifier" of the special that determines how fast you do specials. Your .6 scout blaster will not shoot specials faster unless youincrease your pistol speed mod.That's where the +20at master does come into play.......allI was trying to say though is thatthere are alternatives to having to get master pistoleer simply for pistol speed alone.


And SOE is not perfect, there are lots and lots of things in this game that has flaws that SOE has overlooked. Just look at the armor peircing vs an armored PC in PVP, what about the speicals for master pistoleer not working,Pistol melee defense 2 does absolutely nothing most of the time....etc. They are trying to fix and balance them though..
