Thread: Dual?
Dual wielding would be a nice little addition, but I don't think it should be made available to not-as hard to achieve of a class. In my opinion it would be better suited to someone able to become a master bounty hunter. Then that character would have to do perhaps some intense training/questing in order to be able to master the skill. Like they could make an alternate exp type where you can only earn Dual Wielding Pistol experience through doing certain quests. Either they could make it extremely hard to achieve, almost like a Jedi, or just go with PondaBobba's suggestions
The other alternative would come in the form of epic weapons, as seen in many other mmorpg's. These weapons are usually of the highest quality, look extremely unique, are not droppable and are obtained through the hardest of quests. If the devs were to give, say, Bounty hunters an epic weapon, they could filter in dual wielding in that one situation. That would also keep with the movies (Jango Fett)
Btw, Anakin dual wielded lightsabers ![]()
I like this idea, and I think it would be really fun to play with. Here are my thoughts:
Don't allow any existingpistols to be dual-wielded.Create new items that fill both hands when you equip them, like the terrorists' Dual Elites in Counterstrike. The new dual pistols can have "penalties" to damage, accuracy, HAM costs,and/or speedwhen compared to normalsingle pistols. This alsoallows new weapon certifications to be added anywhere along the skill trees of any number of professions, although I think it would be nice to keep it as a class-definining attribute of the Pistoleer. Thedual pistolscould also be items that only Master Weaponsmiths can craft, and they could require sick amounts of rare resources with a high level of complexity for higher chances of critical failure.

With all due respect, you are incorrect. Jango Fett, he who all bounty hunters have since become modeled after, dual wielded his blasters. Check out his entry in the Star Wars databank at starwars.com

I stand corrected. I've never seen him do it on the movie though.
Therefore I think that accuracy + dmg penalty on either master Bounty Hunter or Master Pistoleer would make sense.

You're joking, right? You don't remember the scene on Kamino, in the rain, Jangovs. Obi-Wan, both blasters ablaze and lightsaber deflecting bolt after bolt? I take it you've also never played Star Wars Bounty Hunter on PS2? www.starwarsbountyhunter.com
Anyway, if implemented, I think Pistoleer and maybeBounty Huntershould get dual wield ability. I don't think it should confer any unbalancingbenefits over single pistol users, unless you count the "cool" look of holding two guns.
And the reason I say "maybe Bounty Hunter" isbecause it's possible that Jango Fett didn't master the Bounty Hunter profession. Master Scout, Master Marksman, and Master Pistoleer will leave enough skill points to get Novice Bounty Hunter, Bounty Pistol Specialization IV, and Investigation III, with one skill point leftover.
Also, a Master Bounty Hunter would spread his training out across all weapons, including carbines and rifles. Pistoleers spend all their time and energy focusing on their one weapon of choice. With a title like "Master Gunfighter" under your name, wouldn't it make sense to be the only ones able to wield two guns?
And when I say "dual wield ability", I mean the mythical certification foran imaginarydual pistol item that doesn't exist yet. I still assert the idea that current pistols should not be dual wielded.
I'm going to repost my response from a similiar thread:
There will not be Dual Wielding of ANYTHING in this game for a very long time. LET ME SAY THIS AGAIN: There will not be Dual Wielding of ANYTHING in this game for a very long time.
The dev's announced this in some developer chat sometime in the past year (I forget if it was the 2nd or 3rd from the last) and I BELIEVE also on a HyperdriveRadio appearance. The reason for this has NOTHING to do with game mechanics, but with computer mechanics. Essentially it's Waaaaaaaayyyyy too much work. You see, every posture with a gun in your hand is, of course a rendered motion capture thing. If they do dual wielding then they have to do ALL of it over again, for EVERY specie. Now, before every one comes up with a million half-baked ideas of how to work around that, I'm sure there are a few ways to cut corners, but regardless the drawing and coding time is severe. It's also why everyone shoots with the same hand. Yeah, I'd love to go Chow Yun Fat in this game too. It's awesome. But they announced loooong ago that this wasn't going to happen. At least no where in the forseeable future. That's why there is no dual wielding. It's not a balance thing at all (PnP RPG's balance it with a sizeable hit to accuracy, which is, I imagine how they would do it here, as Shug Ninx has worked on, in some way or another the Star Wars RPG, and Raph is an RPG proficient in all it's forms). So there ya go. Sorry, kids.
Interesting thoughts, but putting aside all the arguments of what is and what isn't in the movie, who knows if it can be programed in. As things are now, when you equip any item, it shows up "floating" in the air, convienently placed in your character hands. Who knows if it even is possible tomake it so a secondary "pistol" will show up in the opposite hand without re-writing anything that's hard coded.
Anyways, without getting into who can do what, and yada yada, I think bounty hunters should get the ability due to the amount of credits they have to put into that class.
Master Smuggler - 92 skill credits; 158 skill credits left
Master Bounty Hunter - 217 skill credits; 33 skill credits left
The more you invest in something, the more you should get out of it.Unfortunatly that's not the way things are, and it'sone reason I canceled my account.
