I've set my human character up as totally buff reliant, as I have a doc/musician and a dancer on other accounts.
It takes me 20 minutes or so to log them on, and then I go from.
Health Stats : 400/400/400
Action Stats : 400/400/400
Mind Stats : 1200/600/1200
To :
Health Stats : 2900/2900/2900
Action Stats : 2900/2900/2900
Mind Stats : 2400/1200/2400
So theres not much need for HAM increasing food and drink really.
What I do have in my toolbar is:
Spice.
Moun Gold - For Emergency mind healing
Neutron Pixie - I very rarely use this, usually to get a boost when fighting high end content or as a heal when things are getting hectic and I cant heal fast enough for all teh damaage coming in.
Defense Foods and Drinks.
Pikatta Pie- as Caix has said.
Synthsteak - pretty much PvP only or when you have a mass of high end content beating on you.
Vegeparsine - this stacks with my Melee Defense and +20 From Force branch and comes in useful sometimes.
Pica Thundercloud - extra ranged defense
Ithorian Mist - Defense vs Dizzy for use on Krayts/Gorax and in PvP
Thakitillo - Defense Vs KD, as above.
Offensive Buffs:
Citros Snow Cake - Extra accuracy for hitting stackers in PvP
Dead Eye (not chef buff, but still) - stack on top of Snow cake for more accuracy.
Mind healing and regen:
Vasarian Brandy - Mind heal and boost regen
Vagnerian Canape - used to boost mind regen rate
Blue Milk - Quick mind heal, dont use this much apart from emergencies.
Vercupti of Agazza Boleruuee - 1K more mind... handy.
I think thats all I use, I have my backback full of crates of each of the food I use and I use them from my toolbar. I use Modal Chat and have macros bound to the keyboard so my toolbar is essentially free of combat moves and holds all my chef buffs, spiceand pistols.
Oh course, your stomache can only hold so much, but I find I use all of the above at some time in different combinations.
Before I go into PvP, I'll pop a brandy, pikatta and a syntsteak... before taking on a krayt/gorax I'd use brandy, thak and mist and maybe throw in a vegesparine for good measure.
All this does is give me options in combat, the ability to become more defensive or offensive at the flick of a few buttons can get you out of some quite nasty situations.
Oh, keep meaning to get some smugglers delight but I dont use spice all that much really.

I rely heavily on defensive foods and full buffs for PvP. In fact I'd rather have Pikata Pie than Brandy or vercupti. My husband's character is a chef so I am well stocked in some of the harder to find foods but I absolutely recomend the following for PvP (in pve I don't bother with food)
Synthsteak
Pikata Pie
Pica ThunderCloud
Vegesparisine
Thakitilo
Chor Nor Hula
Trimpani
Ithorian Mist
I aslo keep Citrus Snow Cake, Parawan Nutricake, Vercupti, Vasarian brandy and arhisa available.
There's a great website on the Chef forums that tells you all the foods, what they do and how much filling they have. I'm pretty sure the stats listed are before experimentation though because i've seen much much better stats.

I'm a Rodian and generally do 90% of my time in combat unbuffed which is reflected below, I'm a musician too so that helps explain my massive action secondaries. PvE is what I do most of the time since 2/3 of my SP are into non-combat professions.
800/360/340
900/650/850
700/400/400
Unbuffed I do 1 garrmorl, 1 brandy and depending on what i'm attackinga gruuvan shaal or a won-won forhealth conservation rarely will i pop an ahrisa unbuffed. I always carry cho-nor-hoola with me sinceI hate getting diseased, and dustcrepe is a must to reduce DoTs (alt is a chef so I eat all the time), I use synthsteak and vercupti now and then too for those especially hard missions. I usually only wear padded gloves and a PSG for this kind of play sometimes I'll put on my tantel boots and chest though, everything gets encumbrance sliced.
Buffed its like everyone else, 2 brandy and3 ahrisa. This is with heavy armors ie.padded and composite which MUST be encumbrance sliced since mind buffs rarely stick, some kind of odd bug that affects my bug (pun intended).

I maxed mind, put the rest even across Health and Action pools.
I buff those, but skip mind buffs.
Drink Two Metoo Brandies,
Pop an Air Cake (dodge +18% min metoo's is higher)
Pop a Snow cake (attack accuracy +18% min metoos is higher)
Pop a synth steak
and wade in to the fray.
My favorite weapon of destruction being My Dy-Nod pepperpot!

Thanks so much for all the contributions, everybody. I'm holding off with my summary until everybody who wants to participate has had a chance to reply. If there's one clear trend that has emerged so far, it's that everybody has their own way of using food!

Since the replies seem to have fizzled out for the moment, I compiled thecontributions so far and edited my first post with the results. Please scroll to the very beginning of this thread.

Very nice work, they way you've put it all together makes a great post and sums up all the points very well, taking into account various different playstyles.
I would add that willpower is more important then focus when it comes to mind stats, willpower effects regen and focus is how much mind you use per attacks.
Pistoleers dont use too much HAM on attacks and massive willpower will help you a lot more than focus would, allowing you to heal you mind as you fight by using willpower increasing chef buffs and spice.
Great job.

Thanks very muchfor the comments, BadgerSmaker
I completely agree with you about Willpower being more important than Focus. When I was summarizing, I was trying to make an effort to list a concensus of people's opinions rather than interjecting too much of my own personal opinion. I have, in the past, heard people recommend turning up Focus at the cost of Willpower, so I willing to accept that there may be different opinions on that matter than mine (ours).
My personal approach is to keep Focus turned up just high enough so I canput onmy armor unbuffed without getting a "you need xx more focus to wear this armor" message, and put all remaining points into Willpower (after maxing out my Mind primary and giving a fair dose of points to Quickness). I personally find Quickness to be the most important secondary for my playing style, because my Action pool drops the fastest when I spam my pistol specials (unless have enough stomach space left to compensate with Scrimpi). With enough food or buffs in me, I would instead consider Willpower to be the most important of all the secondaries. Where my Mind tends to take the biggest hit in combat (PvE) though is in the cost of using my stimpacks, and that could be mitigated with Focus (but can also be healed with Willpower). So I suppose it depends in part on what your template and playing style is.

One more thing... Looking over my tallies, I see that people tend to somewhat prefer Synthsteak over Pikatta Pie. Having never used either, I am going to pick up some and experiment with them. My question to people is this: forplayers who use (or have used) both foods, do you have a sense for which is more useful? I am wondering if it isjust as goodto take 2 hits of one of them (do they even stack?), rather than 1 hit of each? My inventory and toolbar space is already too full as it is, and I don't want to have to carry around more crates of food than I have to.
I suppose another way of phraseing the question would be:Which would provide better protection for a pistoleer--Damage Reduction, or Dodge?

Thanks Caix, that was very useful! The duration of the food is indeed a big consideration for me. I hate using any food that lasts less than about half an hour--I just don't like having to keep eating it over and over again.

Pikatta pie lasts for (current stash of mine) 24 minutes. My current synthstash lasts 34 attacks, 45% dmg reduction. The pie has a 50% increase on the opponents "miss" chance.
For most intents and purposes, a single pie will last longer than a piece of synthsteak, but it has the same filling. (27-pie, 28-steak, my current stash). Which means if you're just going with one, you have to consider how long you're fighting and how many (a pie will offer an equal protection no matter how many things are shooting at you. The amount of protection offered by a steak will decrease as the number of things firing at you increases). A steak will also have to be re-eaten after 34 attacks. That usually happends in less than 24 minutes, which means it will consume more of your food bar. For me,the pie is the base food. Brandyx2 + pie for all buffedPvE. High level version, add synthsteak, or wafers, depending on how my food bar looks. But I'd definitely go for pie over synth.
And no, they most certainly do not stack. Once you've eaten one pie, you will be told you are already under influence of that food until it runs out, and the same goes for steak.
The essential problem with the pie is that it's a pain in the rear to find someone selling it. Last time I went looking for it, the only chef I know to reliably stock parwan nutricake (which, if possible, is even more of a pain to find) didn't have any pie. This is mostly because of the "dodge" wording on the description; It does enhance your defenses whether you have dodge or not, but no one knows that and because of that few people buy it. This of course means that synthsteak, which is by far easier to locate on a vendor, is a more popular choice. (Last time I needed new pie, it took me two hours. Last time I needed new steak, it didn't take me more than 15 minutes)
