All of these Templates start out with Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler. This does NOT garuntee the best combat template. If thats what you want you'd probably be better off considering other things besides Master Smuggler. These are also not taking into account Force Sensative skills, because they are a pain in the ass. However, they do have a good skills gained/skill points used ratio. These are some the best performing templates assuming you have already chosen these two profession however.


Here are some of my favorites:


Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler PLUS:


Commando 4440- (Really good accuracy and defenses, lacks a bit in speed)



  • Total Accuracy-235

  • Total Speed-100

  • Total Melee Defense-235

  • Total Ranged Defense-210

Master Marksman/Novice Commando/Novice Carbineer/Novice Rifleman (Didn't see that one coming, did ya!? Sacrifices some defense and accuracy for more speed)



  • Total Accuracy-225

  • Total Speed-115

  • Total Melee Defense-205

  • Total Ranged Defense-215

Master Marksman/Commando 3000 (Same offense as above, just more melee defense, less ranged)



  • Total Accuracy-225

  • Total Speed-115

  • Total Melee Defense-220

  • Total Ranged Defense-210

I have a spreadsheet where I compare about 10 different templates and take their averages. I then compare how far from the averages the numbers (accuracy, speed, melee defense, and ranged defense) on each template are, and add the percentages giving a total percentage above or below the average of the templates. The actual number is meaningless, but comparing the numbers will easilt tell you which template is better. The system assumes that all four stats are equally important, but you can easily weight the sum off the percentages once you figure out how important speed versus accuracy, melee versus ranged defense, and offense versus defense are. The above three were the top rated under the initial system. Others that don't include Force Sensitivity that are better than MS/MP/BH0040 are:



  • MP/MS/MMarksman/Commando0300

  • MP/MS/Carb0440

  • MP/MS/Rifle4400

  • MP/MS/BH0400

MBH-MP-NovComm-Smug0020 Enhanced Reflex MD 1 and RD 1

This gives you Ranged Speed of 70+45 from pistols for 115
Ranged Defense of 200+50 from pistols for 250+5 from force sensitive=255
Melee Defense of 200+50 from pistols for 250+5 from force sensitive=255
Ranged Accuracy of 180+40 from pistols for 220
This build will give you one extra special shot, C22 frag cert, launcher cert and make some minor spice.

Or you could change this around to get just novice smugg and put your extra skill points in Field Tactics2
to give you Glop grenade cert and boost your Melee Defense/Ranged Defense (pistolDefense included)to 270/265.

I haven't been able to play on testcenter lately, but as far as I can see on the character builder, smuggler is mostly focused on special attacks and not stats.... So instead of going with M pistoleer/smuggler I am prolly going to go with master BHor Commando. So what special attacks from smuggler should i keep and which ones are useless? this is somethinglike my10th changeof post CUtemplate after various newinformation and oponions being slammed in my face....




I am a master pistoleer bounty hunter 3040 smuggler 0040 newbie. Don't laugh.

Master BH

Master Pistoleer

Marksman 0/4/0/4

Scout 4/0/0/4

Squad Leader 0/0/4/4

FS Reflexes 0/4/0/0 (melee defense)


Man this template is gonna ROCK!! I tested it out - FS stuff. Quite fun. Except the Squad leader melee and ranged defenses are still bugged.

Ok, I haven't been able to play on testcenter lately, so i havent been able to test the smuggler special attacks. If i'm not going m smuggler, what should i then choose if i have 34 skillpoints to use on smuggler?

Nope....anyone can use stimpacks now, even with out medic skills. The stimpack type is dependent upon you Combat Level.




Hehe... when you sit there for 5 minutes healing yourself, I'll be using bacta toss, bacta heal, and stim heals and be done in a minute.

I presume you're referring to pre-CURB, because it would be impossible to do this triple-master now, with all the new prerequisites.

Actually, i tried master pistoleer/ master smuggler with bh0040 and it was good...but have since respec'd to master bh/ master pistoleer and smugg 4000 (so i could pick up last ditch...panic shot is nice to) and i love this template.

Well, since I enjoy being able to solo, I am doing MCH/MP/BH 0020/ FS ranged and melee def/ranged accuracy and speed


Seems to work fairly well, with 3 pets tanking for me, me rooting or KD, Intim, Dizzy, and with Improved Body shot as my auto attack.

I've been playing this template, MS, MP, 0040 BH and I really like it. With 2 roots on different timers, we can root multiple things pretty well and snare others. Just stand back and fire away and if they get close, you can intimidate shot, disarming shot etc to debuff them and slow them down. We can basically control things and make them do whatever we want. Having different knockdown skills on different timers is also awesome so we can kd them and get more distance if they get close.
