How does eveyone know these damage/speed caps on weapons anyway? Where do I read up on these?

From the weaponsmith forum, I've collated all the data they have and put it in the "Making more pistols useful" sticky thread.

I personally have the crit strike slice on many of my pistols and I get a Critical at least once during most battles that last longer than about 30 seconds. Do not discount it. From my understanding, it stacks with the critical mods of whatever attack is used...i.e. Critical Strike.

Badger, when you say that 1.72 would be the cap for speed. Do you mean to say you can't slice past that? I beg to differ, because my pistol's base speed is 1.67.

I've heard from a WS on my server that 0.8 mod speed is the cap for pistols. Don't know where he got his info, but /shrug.

It shouldn't be possible to slice past 1.73, but there is a bug that lets you do it. Do you have a screenshot at all?

Click

Weaponsmiths have told me it isn't an exploit of any kind, that slicing just ignores the speed cap

Technically, it probably is an exploit. You shouldn't be able to slice past 1.73, but I know that it is possible as I have guns that have sliced under that as well.

I'll ask for clarification on it from the Devs.

well..first of all: putting the speed cap on modded speed would be impossible...most ws do not have any combat skills, so effectively there would be no speedcap.

secondly: there were plenty ws's selling power-up sliced weapons untill they fixed it, also claiming it was not an exploit

The cap should be on base speed, not modded.

there's a hard speed cap of 1 second on all weapons regardless of what the stated speed says - whether it's mod'd or power'd up.

so - even if your gun speed says .79 seconds...guess what? it's really 1 second.

you're damage cap'd on this, so slicing it isn't an option.

you're SAC cap'd on it- and that isn't a slice option.

the mod'd speed is already very very low...even with a 100% damage slice, the best you'll get is about 1.05 mod'd speed which isn't that far off from what you already have.

your only real option is to go 100% crit slice on it - use an SAC powerup.

i GUESS another alternative would be to go 100% speed slice with a damage powerup...but i'm all about the action.

a question to the op: am I right that you have 124 total speed? 105 from boxes and +19 in tapes?

my personal opinion....

Rely on speed tapes, and go w/ the 10% critical slice.

As a BH I FREAKING LOVE IT with Crit shot.
