It's a lot of fun. The only real disadvantage is the lack of medic, but there's only been a few times where that's gotten me in trouble. Get a good geno and you'll be able to adapt in pvp pretty quick; I carry a krayt dx2, prenerf fwg5, krayt geno and a 234 max dmg vk, allowing me to hit with stun, heat, acid or kinetic. Add that to my stun armor and my only real fear is melee defense stackers who can outlast me and beat be because I can't heal or a speedcapped rifleman. I plan to pick up FS ranged speed to round out the template and improve my effectiveness.

I was thinking of a similar template but was worried about not having medic to heal and scout for terrain neg, so I was thinking of just dabbling in pistoleer. How do you guys cope without these?

I'm with Excarn as well. I'm Master Smuggler/TKM ready to start up the pistol tree. I want to keep Medic (I'm not always buffed) and Scout (terrain neg, harvesting) so I have limited SP to put into Pistoleer. Any advice on which trees to crawl up?

Go for the Techniques tree first for the defences, fanshot and geo certification. After you get fanshot, the grind gets a little easier
