Thread: Focus Thread : Making more Pistols useful.

I have been pushing this a lot... But the DE-10 is the Pistol i now personly can imagine as one of the Master Pistoleer weapons... But of cource this will differ from person to person and most likely it will never happen! But right now the DE-10's are impossible to craft any "descent"... I have yet to see someone manage to reach the Damage Cap for 968 and not to mention its Energy Damage! Its a beautiful Pistol, its big and rough and can remind me of some good of Magnum 44! It looks intimidating and 50% of a Battle is mental...!
Anyway, i agree that there should be many more Pistols moved to Master, like the FWG or DL44-XT

i was talking to one of my crafter friends about teh new buffs to make resources stats go over the cap with a 10% boost. well a few guns dont get close to this right now but think if u can get teh republic to teh damage of a feather wight but an insanly low sac how good it would be i dotn know if things llike this will be possible but this may change a few things for us.

this is kinda off topic but they have places to report people about doing bad stuff but is there a place were we can report someone for doign a good thing? cause if so we need to all send in a good report for u
So where do I report you?
if it is a bad report it is that program called recycle bin or for the older computer users it is calld the trash bin ![]()
but if it is a good one let me know
Personally, i love pistols. My current temp is master marksman, master pistoleer, and master bounty hunter. Not the best temp for bh, i know, but i am too hard headed to give it up. Now, being a jedi hunter, and usually being in range of saber throw/ranged powers, I feel that if any ranged profession has a need for the highest damage output, it should be pistoleer. We have to get up close and personal, and we are pretty much constantlytaking indamage. Whilst a rifleman can kite way out of range of any melee, and have a high damage output. They can stay out of range....yet THEY need a high damage output? Doesn't make sense to me.
Another thing that bugs me, is that any rifleman, with some decent sea's and maybe a speed buff and/or a speed slice, can have the same ROF as pistoleers can. Which may be a mute point, seeing the debate of how weapon speed applies to special actions.
Any way, my point is this: We need a higher damage output, since we are the ones that takes more damage than any other ranged profession. Why does the rifleman need to have the highest damage output of any ranged profession? They can stay out of range. They can almost kite indefinitely. They take the least damage of any profession. So any noob who just bought this game, and asks themselves: "Hmmm, I wonder which combat profession would work the best for me?.....Could it be pistols? A profession that stays close to danger and takes a lot of damage....as well as having a very low damage output. Or should i be a Rifleman, where i can stay out of potential damage range, further than any other profession. AND i get to have the highest damage output." Gee, I wonder which one they would pick.
Before anyone goes about saying I knew what i was getting myself into, when i chose pistols, let me say, as i said previously, i love pistols, and i am determined to make it work with my template. And until that time, i will continue to get my arse handed to me by Masterdefenders. But no profession is perfect, and these are just my humble opinions.
oh, and ps, i forgot to mention that i do like the fact that pistols have a lower sac, yet i do not feel it is a worthy tradeoff for the damage.
personally I don't get why they put hardcaps on weapons, pre-curb there was only an issue with armor getting too good (90% base armor was over the top).
the only unbalanced weapons pre-curb were ALL looted weapons (I remember a 1700+ max damage DH21 and a 2100+ max dlt20 on my server....All looted...impossible to craft)
with capping the stats on weapons they are severely limiting people in their options, eg. pre-curb I had a DH17carbine with +116 accuracy, but with poor speed and damage, I used it to state people up having only marksman carbs IV...impossible in the new system.
the crafting system is one the biggest things swg has going for itself, senseless caps on that crafting only deminish that

maybe another idea instead of giving us more damage is giving us way more melee defence than rifleman and slightly more than carbs
I like that idea
This is for all ranged proffessions.
I want enhancers that increase min/max damage on weapons

I have to say that from a riflemans point of view I love the idea of "skinnable" guns. Like you we got shafted over one of our rarer guns, the Berserker Rifle. Like the DE-10 I thinkits a lovely looking gun but is now relatively worthless. The idea that we could ask our favourite weaponsmith to create a rifle "core" and then select the skin that its put in is superb. The possibilities are enormous and would add some some needed love to our WS friends.
Speaking of which, has anyone had any feedback from this idea? Maybe Badger could discuss in the Corro forums and give some feedback from them?
On a similar vein, and aplogies for wandering in from the SL forum, what about faction specific weapons rather than faction versions of existing...........although that not a bad idea in itself if they were craftable similar to faction armour. Everyone kows that the T21 was only seen in the hands of Imperial troopers (i think) so wouldnt it make sense to have that as either a faction weapon or at least a faction weapon SKIN ?? Maybe you could have species specific weapons like the bowcaster? Doesnt it make sense that Rodians or Trandoshans would have developed their own weapons to best utilise their own physiology?
This thread has so much potential and it would be nice to see some weaponsmith input, or even some dev attention???? Ok, I'm dreaming on that last bit
I'll let it run for a few weeks and get some more info together before I take it any further.
