It's been a while but if I remember correctly isn't the gun kata a defensive maneouver?

For those that haven't seen it the premise is that the Grammaton Clerics have mathematically calculated the typical bullet trajectory in any given gun fight and devised a set pattern of movements which allow them to evade all those bullets.

So we tie that in with some form of attack which means for 5 to 10 seconds we are unable to hit when at close range yet are still able to do non special attacks. I suppose that might work.

Not sure who they need to get for the motion capture but I suspect that MC Hammer might be a good choice since the gun kata looks like some of his earlier dance moves.

If you're going to take anything from Equilibrium you should take the end fight with the boss, in which they both keep pushing the guns away whilst trying to get their own in for an attack.
