With buffs as a must it doesn't make to much of a difference on species. Humans though do seem to be able to have a better advantage at a strong yet balanced stat migration. All in all it's best to pick a species you will ejoy staring at for many hours. Just my opinion but Mon Cals are great to play with.

human is "best" for all combat profs cause you can migrate the mind to 1000/1000/1000. (other stats just get buffed 2500+ anyways)
zabrak are "2nd best" because of equilibrium which can, in the best case scenario, give you back 2k - 3k mind but usually more like 500-1k.
anyone who has a low maximum for the 3 mind stats is at a disadvantage, so only play other races if you really think they look cool, which is really the best reason of all to play one

I don't think there is one species that has any defiencies that can't be overcome with buffs and what not. Play whatever you want.
When JTLS hits, I am going to make an Ithorian TKM/Master Pistoleer on some server. Hammerhead-fu!

If you're planning on doing a lot of PvP, I would strongly recommend Zabrak since they have fairly decent mind pools and the ability to use equilibrium, which has saved me far too many times to count. Equilibrium alone would lead me to choose them, but the faction penalty for imperials may be a slight drawback.

i would say Zab is the best for any PvP template, as the bonus's to certain pools can be migrited apart from the mon cals mind which gives a clear advantage. but zabraks get equilibrium which, when buffed is like having a full mind heal. shame it can only be used once an hour

I like zabrak, even though their mind stats arent that hot. Well you really dont need high mind for pistols anyway but, onto what i was gonna say. The equillibrium ability helps out a ton in a pvp landscape where mind dots and mind shots rule the day.
