Thread: Are Pistoleers pleased with the CU changes?

psst, Improved Fan Shot is one of ours too.
Our state effects don't stick often enough in PvEgiven the relatively short pace of combat. I think a far better option for states would be for them to stick 100% of the time, but for the duration to be variable. If the MOB resists the state, then the duration of the state is shortened. I think that would make our state moves far more effective than they are right now.
We are not a damage class, so it makes sense that our damaging moves are not as powerful as other classes.
Ah, thanks for the correction, Nifty, I guess I missed one! I'll go back and edit my post. And yeah, your idea for states sounds like an excellent idea. If they worked that way, I'd be using most of the pistoleer specials.
I'll go check out your accuracy analysis in a minute, Nifty. As for healing vs. poison/fire... I went out hunting last night, going to all the places where I remember having challenges or difficulties pre-CU, trying to see how they compare now with my current template (using my Combat Medic specials on all the mobs). I have to say that I seem to be doing a lot better now than I used to--at least with single mobs (I won't even attempt to engage more than one at a time if I can help it now). One place that used to give me trouble was at the start of the race course in Nym's Stronhold on Lok, where all Nym's elite guards and pirates hang out. With a -5000 Nym faction rating, I was never able to even start that race without getting surrounded and killed. Last night though, even though I was surrounded by several of Nym's cronies, I was able to take them all out, even as they continued to spawn around me. I eventually got bored and left, but I was in no danger of dying. I felt like Neo in that scene in one of the Matrix movies where the agents came to attack him, and with one hand behind his back he was fighting them all without breaking a sweat. They weren't anywhere near my combat level though.
The other noteworthy place I went last night was the Nightsister cave on Dath. That place used to be hit or miss for me to solo--half the time I would get myself killed before I got too far, and that's when I was buffed. Last night, with no buff, I was able to get pretty far into the cave without much trouble (though I hadn't encountered any really high-level Nightsisters yet before I gave up and went to bed). The Nightsisters just weren't doing a whole lot of damage to me before I could kill them, even when I had two of them on me at once. ![]()
I also soloed a lot of high-end creatures on Dath, and didn't come close to getting incapped by any of them. So, I've concluded that the offensive CM skills of CM 0400 are more useful (or at least are useful more often) than the added healing power of CM 4000, and are more fun to use too.

Well, I was very pleased with the changes, once I re-learned how to play--at least until I found out that most of out state-attack specials don't seem to be worth using (because they do too little, and don't stick often enough). Still, Stopping Shot alone makes it a profession worth keeping.
Boy, they sure don't stick often....though if I "resist" as often as the lvl 80 npc's resist me I guess I can't complain!
Still....what exactly does "stun" and "dizzy" do now? I'd heard a rumor that dizzy now made your opponent take more damage, but I haven't found anything that actually confirmed that.
My take on the whole CU..
It erased a lot of work people had done in the past. ( I have 2-3 $25 million pistols now doing less dmg then the box of FWGs I bought in a crate for grinding)
They took some tweaked formula to get a combat rating, and then allow people to respec into that. I like how armor works now, I like that I actually get some defense.
Some of the states, etc are good, but are they good enough to overcome the fact that my first TWO years of playing have now been erased and every toon except jedi is now lowered to the same level?
In my opinion what Sony said, is "our game is broken" let's piss off all the elite players, and cater to a totally new market of unsuspecting subscribers.
