A republic blaster is the short name for the Naboo Royal Security Force(RSF) Blaster.

if they nerf that they need to seriosuly redo the power5 pistol which i beleive is the pistol of the empire.

no more AP on pistol is to me the difference between staying pistoleer and dropping it.

Its already the worst/possibly on par with carbines, rifles make any normal pistol look like a complete joke.

DX-2 the miss pistol
Scout blaster/DH17 possibly a choice but im 100% sure DH17 is a rebellion issue weapon, look at the start on a new hope for DH17s.

They **edit**ed up making the rebuplican a no cert pistol excellent at 64m with its bugged to hell stats and this is an attempt at a fix?!

Following the same logic shouldn't the dev's penalize for sliced weapons as well?

I don't know how many of you have sliced something but if you actually read the dialogue it mentions how you are tampering with the imperial seal on theitem. Also slicing is described as making "illegal modifications" to guns and armor.

Anyway the devs need to **edit** or get off the pot.

Either make all illegal guns really illegal or leave them the hell alone, picking and choosing which illegal guns they actually want to enforce is retarded.

Actually, from reading posts on the TC board, I don't think that sliced weapons are being confiscated right now. It looks to be just spices. I don't think the Republic Blaster was the reason why his FP were deducted. There's a post on the TC board about how a neutral player got 52k of Lokian wild wheat confiscated at a starport. I think this was a bug because wheat should not be considered contraband.

it really is silly.. I don't think specific weapons should be contraband at all, but this doesn't even follow logic. The Scatter Pistol is blatantly illegal, yet it isn't contraband?

The DX2 should be as well, as should all disruptors (even though in SWG it isn't a disruptor.. acid damage?). I even heard somebody say civilians weren't allowed to have heavy weapons, but I personally haven't read that anywhere in the EU.

Well the only decent guns we have now are republic blasters... I personally think I will just go neutral if it goes in, or I'll have to find another profession with some decent weapons.

I personally suspect it was the slice that did it. If all else fails you can always store your contrabanad in your R2 unit while you're roaming around town and not actively using weaponry.

First of all, NOTHING gets confiscated. The player, who lost his wheat, lost it to a bug.

Secondly, sliced weapons (and possibly sliced armor) DO count as contraband, and if you're caught with them you will be punished.

To back up what I just said, here's TH's post on the subject:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=TestCenter&message.id=58146#M58146

Specifically of note:

About the Wheat

  • The system cannot confiscate anything. Not only is it bad design, but its different servers and different databases and getting items out of player inventory would require a unique authentication. It doesnt have that number.
  • There is NO message in the ENTIRE code base that says that an item has been confiscated. Those messages are string files and that string file doesn't exist - - to say that it could be a bug is not even a question. It is something that does not exist.

And here's some info on contraband from the same post:

About the Contraband

  • The system looks for Spice, Sliced Weapons and Rebel Faction...period.
  • IF you have a sliced weapon or spice, then it looks at neutral and Imperial Faction
  • IF it finds something, it counts up the items and "makes a roll" to simulate the find. This is because some soldiers are more intelligent than others. If this were PnP, it would be a basic dice roll to find something. Not every soldier will find something whether you have it or not and not every search will yeild the same results. Thats to make it feel more real.

Right in the first bullet is the answer to this whole thing "Spice, Sliced Weapons." Both the Spice and the Republic Blaster (assuming it was sliced, and there's a 99% chance it was since nearly everybody gets their weapons sliced) counted against this Imperial player. It was not due to the fact that he had a Republic Blaster, but due to the fact that he had Spice and that the gun was sliced (if it was sliced that is, if not then just the Spice got him caught).

If you get high enough rank as an imperial you won't even get searched.
