Well now hang on now I'm really confused...
Ren, if I ask nicely, can I have more damage types?

*shrug* Ask the other guy. Apparently I can't say something without offending someone today.

Judging by how the other fella can't seem to understanding "discussion topic" as a platform for the exchange of ideas, I wouldn't put too much stock in offending people like him. say the sky is blue and he'll be pissed off thathe pays too much for gas.

JakobSunrunner wrote:lol i dont think you get the rift of my arguement, i was pointing how badly were off and how we should be focusing more on our area of expertise which is close in ranged fighting not damage types. While it may seem apparent that different damages would be our area, its not, the devs never meant to set up the pistoleer prof that way. But if you can prove me wrong find me a post or some kind material by the devs indicating such and ill admit im wrong.Oh, and by the way, we pistoleer's arent the only proffession with a handful of damage types, i think someone is forgetting about riflemen and his old and new toys, infact they have more damage types then we, im not even inclueding there AP1 and AP2. While carbines dont have many as we do they still have what? 3 or 4 damage types? So really we DONT dominate in damage types as much as YOU think we do.Message Edited by JakobSunrunner on 02-17-2005 11:56 PM
riflemen have one more damage type then we do
but the tusken king's rifle doesn't count because noone is certed for it. period.
and this whole thread was discussing our damage types, NOT anything else, so take your "omgz we suck!" arguments somewhere else and we'll be glad to ignore you there also

Adding Cold would be putting us one damage type away from having every non-Lightsaber damage type in the game, and I think that would just be unfair to other professions. I don't think we need it at all. If they fix everything else broken with our prof, and then give us all the extra stuff we've asked for (dual wielding, holsters, postures/stances, etc.), and then give us Cold damage, I'm afraid the outcry from other professions would be so much that we'd be at serious risk of another nerf, or worse, other professions would steal one of our only advantages, and demand that they also be given a wider range of damage types.Basically, I'm kind of afraid of asking for too much, especially in an arena where we already dominate. If we push this one too hard too, we may end up losing it in the end.Oh yeah, and I think you mean Restraint damage, not Resist.![]()

Heh, glad to see some feedback. I'm feeling the sting of the last of the Smuggler skills dying, so I'm trying to save what I can of Pistoleer.
I'm assuming we are going to be playing the same roles we were supposed to have at launch. Pistoleer = Close fighting, Carbineer = Mid range fighting, Rifleman = long range fighting. I'm only hoping that we could get more damage types to offset the low damage we will no doubt be dishing out yet again. Since we have to be in close, everyone will target us first and we will catch it first. We may not have much time to dish out our little damage, so I was hoping we could have more damage types to make up some lost ground to make us competitive.

I feel the curb should do more to balance all combat profs abilities. Whether or not we get new damage types, I dont know...I dont really know if we need new damage types or not, I would like us to have a shot against most mobs, and the thing that hampers us the most right now is our lack of real armor piercing. thankfully that is going away. The other thing that is hurting us is a severe lack of working and useful specials. Both of these should be taken care of in the curb.
Multiple damage types would be a good "trick" for pistoleers, and limiting the number of damage types for other profs would give us a leg up on those big hitters, but I dont see them actually taking weapons away from the riflemen so maybe we just need to hope for more dps and better specials after the curb is over.
