primus layered battle is better anyway, get it sliced for 75% armorbreak, when you get hit in the head with a hammer, you will thank me.
Besides what else are you going to do with all those storm trooper skulls except make a bone armor helmet?

If you fight jedi, then you definitely want the 75% armor break slice. Jedi armor break is stronger than swordsman armor break.
Also, with the new loots from BH missions, you can get very nice enhancers for FWG5's too. Better than gorax shards. Reinforced casings and power cells are very nice along with the advanced scopes.

Personally, I just think the HC scatter looks and sounds betterthan the FWG5. The damage cap is only SLIGHTLY higher for a featherweight FWG5, so if you already have capped pistol accuracy from skilltapes (and hence get no benefit from the +15 pistol accuracy mod on the FWG5), it's a toss-up.

You know I was talking to a guildie the other day about those BH drops and he was saying that the loot drops are as rare as gorax shards. Then to top it off, I'm not a BH and I can only buy those loots which with my current bank account would probably break me. Also, I'm the type of person that don't think it makes sense to spend millions for loot components only to make a weapon that will sell for only a 1/3 of the price of the loot. I mean I see people paying 10+ million for tissues, bones and high level rare loot drops. It's very difficult to sale a FWG5 for 10 million....too many people use the ALR because it's the best darn crafted weapon in the game (65 ranged, can be stocked, scoped and over 1100 max damage andspeed slice etc.) For a pistoleer, not having rifle speed is a downside, but with speed buff, the mushrooms, the +25 SEA's and speed stimulants, as a pistoleer, I wield my ALR as much as I do my pistols. I just switch to pistols once my targert gets in pistol range.....but by far, ranged is the best assest in this game after damage.
heck, I even use my 590 - 1168 ALR with my jedi to open up with and then switch to sabers once the gap closes....It's very effective. By the way, that ALR was converted by CU, not crafted after CU and it has no powerups 
Anyway, I do think it is not right that a level 54 weapon that is bar the best rifleman weapon and any CL 54+ can use it with any specials they have. The ALR needs to be master rifleman certified in my opinion.

I totally agree about not spending money on things like that. I get the loot myself since I have 2 bh characters. One is novice and one is master so I can get the good loots on my novice while it's bugged, then use my mbh when they move the good loot to those marks. The enhancers aren't that rare, i've gotten 2 power cell stacks and 2 reinforced casing stacks and an advanced scope also and I don't do that many missions. Those rifles are very nice for opening moves like you said, but once in close range for a pistoleer, you should use pistols so you get the extra defenses etc. Get good enhancers, then slice the suckers and you have some really good fwg5's.

i like the fwg5 because from a BH perspective a HC scatter is a dead giveaway your a MBH

It seems easier on the bank account to buy prof specifc weapons instead of the ones that can be used by all cause they're usually not as expenisive- the prof specific weapons that is.
Its all economic reasons, IMO.

Errr most weaponsmiths who do special orders charge flat rates for it. (at least on Valcyn)
