We don't hit 100% of the time. We do have a guarenteed chance to land the poison/disease though (i.e. resists buffs can't get you to 100% resist). Just get good resist buffs if you really want to go after a CM. Pistoleer does have an advantage over the melee stackers because the Terrain Neg doesn't play as big a role against Pistoleers as it does against them.

Just go at a CM with a Geo with Eye Shot (or Last Ditch/Stopping). Their mind will be gone pretty fast beacuse they'll need to try a few times beacuse of resist buffs.

Ya, your right you will be able to kill them, but after they die, you're still poisoned/diseased, and will die eventually.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I've used that tactic before when a base was being raided 6 on 1. CM is pretty overpowered, but we don't have a 100% chance to land. I'm simply dispelling false information that make the profession appear more overpowered then it is.

CM seems balanced to me now. There are good counters. The old "we are weak so we should be able to due large damage" is very flawed though because a CM's poison still ticks after they are dead, making their damage output alot more significant than a regular combat profession with large damage and poor defenses. In addition, CM's can clone zerg you with the same effectiveness; not something you can claim about a regular fighter.

In reference to the original poster, you can't dodge poisons and diseases being released into the air. CM attacks consist of canisters that disperse the poison/disease when it reaches it's target. You can't dodge on a molecular level, hehe.

Keep a CM Postured-Down and then Pistol Whip him and he won't be tossing any chems. Take Carbines IV (Marksman profession) and hit him with FullAutoSingle1 to stick a Dizzy on him, and then switch back to Pistols to finish him off. You don't even need Eye Shot, although a CM's Mind is his life source. Drain that, and he can't toss chems either. But my favorite is still the PD/KD/FullAutoSingle1 combo.

you werent the author of thisthread were you? soforgive me if you thought i was talking to you.

as far as combat is concerned a cm is a one-trick pony. he must get his poisons to stickand they must stick fast or he dies. its as simple as that. his damage of course is brutal against a guy who was unprepared for a fight but so is a stun baton against someone without stun armor. now if you were to take a look at his defenses you will notice he basically has none. he could of course add a class to improve them but i doubt you are JUST a pistoleer.

None of that will matter if you dont have resist buffs, at least 4/0/0/0 doc or a doc friend nearby, in about 20 seconds you'd be on 1 mind from poison ticks.

Resist buffs are the CM nerf... use them.

Lol! Highly true. Any Doc can make them, and I've had them increase my resistance by +125! Pretty tough to stick a poison/disease with a +125 resistance, eh? Next time you pay that Doc sitting in Coronet charging 15k for your buffs, ask for Disease/Poison resists as well. Docs charge WAY too much for buffs, and they can easily afford to include resistance buffs for what we pay them.

The counter for that is CM's that use poison packs with huge potency, it may take a few throws to stick one but it'll get there eventually, but in that time you're fighting someone who has a lot of skillpoints tied up in combat medic that could have gone into defense, and they keep standing still for four seconds every now and then.

But, if you want to "dodge" poisons.. thats how you do it.

Yeah, while they're trying to stick a DOT on you, you're busy PDing them, running up, laying a PMD1 smackdown, and then giving them a taste of their own medicine a la Torso Shot, Bleeding Shot, HS1, HS2, Mod Rep Blaster, etc.

Then just stay out of their tossing range (what is a CM's range, btw??) and kiting them.

My one and only gripe about CM is there's no PvP reduction like every other profession in the game. I don't think, however, that CMs should have a lowered "accuracy" for hitting their targets.

However, I do believe that the breathing filters (what are they called again?) that you can get from the geo cave should prevent you from getting diseased and poisoned.... but they don't

Wong-Fei-Hung - 12 Point Doc... and much more!

It'd be nice if they did . . . and it'd be nice if you could actually loot them! Ican't even loot them from the containers they're in.

Hmm, well it is pretty unbalanced both ways... picture the scene.

I have 4/0/0/0 doc, 4/0/0/4 CM and Master Pistoleer.

I spot an overt and attack him, lobbing a mind poison.

If it gets resisted or that player has the ability to cure that all my SP tied up in CM completely nerfed.

Resist buffs aren't so bad as one might eventually stick, but what do I do if they can cure?

I'm left woth the "awesome power of pistoleer"and there is no way in the world that you can kill a PvP'er with just pistoleer.

I had a long old fight with a MCM/MDoc once that just never ended, I was chucking poison at him and he was throwing and me, both curing, he only had rifles 4 so wan't hurting me at all.

I was trying everything, bleeds, get the DE-10 out, the Geo, suppress and KD (KD'd him loads of times as he had 0 defense) but I could only get him down to about half health and he'd just heal.

Eventually we called it a draw.

After that shambles I dont PvP anymore.

So, in summary... yup CM is overpowered, but doc completely negates it and resist buffs go a long way to making you not need doc anyway.

It's like having buffs that prevent you taking ranged damage.

I never really know what to think about the place of a CM in SWG... but most certainly they are way out of balance.

I'm rambling now anyway... *clicks submit post*
