Thread: DX2 Pistol Sucking??
tbh, this is one of the only guns where is doesnt GREATLY depend on your server.
They are worse then most pre-patch fwg5's, but now the dmg is very good compared to post-patch fwg/scatter. I really like mine, but I have bought a crate of fwg before the patch, so I mainly use those in pve with no AR/heat resist. Just to prove how good a dx2 is: I took down a frenzied graul with no tank in19 secs. he didnt touch me.
(I used panic shot and lowblow, but I wouldnt have walked out of the battle if I tried it with my fwg)
FGW5 (heat Damage 0AP) 68-180 dmg speed 1.1
DX2 (acid damage 1AP) 90-140 dmg speed 2.0 (I think I dont remember correctly)
DH17 (energy damage 0AP) 70-120 dmg speed 1.7 +51 Scope
Tangle (stun damage 0AP) 40-120 dmg speed 3.3
Striker Pistol (kinetic damage 0AP) 60-120 dmg speed 1.8
Republic Blaster (energy damage 1AP) 100-200 dmg speed 2.6
These are my slot based pistols, I also carry with me a set of FGw5's
60-210 dmg speed 1.4
and 70-240 dmg speed 2.0
Now I carry these different guns to use at different opportunities, most of the time I find my self using my FGW5 due to its fast speed, I can spam Fanshot (killing my self in like 30 seconds), however before I attack I consider what armour resists the targets have and whats more effective. Range also comes into play, so if a target moves into close range below 20M I switch to the DX2, if the target is above certain range I use the republic blaster (60m+).
I will tend to use the FGW5 a lot at medium range when the target moves in I switch, or unless the resists are too high I will use the gun which has the least resitance to, or is vulnerable to it, almost exclusively.
Not that I dont like it.. I do use it.. lets face it this is meant to be a ranged class... and considering there are brawlers out there with a lunge of 20M.. I'd rather keep my distance, this is where teh DX2 fails.
Its' damage is nice due to the new mitigation rules, however it should be higher, its meant to be an elite gun. Yet the Republic Blasters seem to do better O_o
I really do find it lacking... but I guess its how you use it I think.
I love my DX2
Its 128 -310 speed 2.1 with no power ups.
I find the best way to hunt solo is to kit mobs. I have alot of accuracy while moving So I hit alot more while running then most mobs or players. This means that they are in my sweet range spot most of the time with the dx2. I also use panicshot and Fanshot to keep multiple mobs delayed and damaged while i run. The DX2 is build for this kind of tactic. Close ranged, high average damage, most mobs are acid vulnerable, and ar1 all make the dx2 a great pistol for the man on the run.
i'm enjoying my dx-2 pistols as well... i mastered gunfighter in the rancor spawning grounds on dathomir

Oh woops, what I also forgot to mention, I do find the DX2 to be lacking, havign been a BH before hand compared to the Scatter (prenerfs) I wound it to be rather lacking, its speed where slow, (I got a speed sliced DX2 prenerf ~_~).

I think that is because you got a not that good DX2. 140 max dmg.... you can buy a 200 max dmg for 10k (on my server anyway). Also, I think we'll see a lot changes when they add all the new weapons!!
ps: someone here said he had a speed sliced pre nerf dx2. I cant remeber the dx2 being nerfed tbh..
it has its place, no doubt, but it is slow, inaccurate at range and dishes out less dmg per shot or over time than my fwg5.
You can only hit things reliablywith the DX2 by spamming specials. Regular fireis horribly inaccurate with this pistol outside of like 15 meters, and you don't want to live inside that radius when fighting with a pistol.
The biggest problem with this weapon is that its conditionreally does degrade quickly, and is fairly expensive to make. If you have a really nice DX2 and you are loving it and using it as your weapon of choice, you will regret that when it falls apart on repair and you can't replace it with an equally good one.
I advise that you use it for acid vulnerabilities when energy is resisted or against light armor. I also advise that when you do use it, make the most of it and use your specials. Otherwise, most of the weapon condition and the powerups you use will be wasted on missed shots.
That being said, I never leave home without a good DX2 on me.
I just with they'd make the special trails the same color as the weapon bolt color. That would rock. The red tails on the green bolts looks so damned silly.
Hm, my old Dx2 has been doing fine all these months. Like 110-201dmg normally. Picked up a new one at 105-170 or so today as a future backup.
There are not many good ones. I'd say it must just be a resource issue, because these things can be quite useful..
I'm curious - what's the purpose of the DH17 in your panoply of weapons?
I use a 250+ dmg Scout pistol when at far range, switch to 250+ FWG5 when at med range, and 280+ DX2 at point blank. I'm finding that doing this allows me much more damage then using a single weapon at all ranges. Also, the DX2 is great for that last knockdown shot, once they are up close, then kill with Bodyshot 1+2 when they are down.
I just started doing this recently, so there may be an even better way to do it. And these were the best stat pistols I could find after shopping for a few hours on my server (Corbantis).
