I agreed with a lot of what you said there, top stuff...... but i can't see how BH 3xxx can make any template the "best", as the investigation line only gives you the ability to hunt jedi / do BH missions - it adds no firepower or defences to your template at all - surely someone WITHOUT the investigation line...who put those skill points into pistol skills or fencer skills would have a "better" template for pvp / pve? (they would of course lose the Jedi hunting ability, but thats not related to the power of the template)

Geezus bro! Way to split hairs on me. Back of the guard dogs or something. Read down to the other paragraphs on my post and you will see that I MENTIONED that dropping Inv I-III and investing in pisoleer would help out.

Christ bro, you act like i don't recognize that Investigation does nothing to further combat or defenses. I need investigation II to slice factional bases, so investigation III is an interesting perk to say the least.

But putting all hair-splitting devices aside, the BH 0040, pistoleer 2443, fencer 0440 has to be the best PvP pistol template out there. I'm only pist 1442. Back off man

Also don't fail to notice that my original sentence that you quoted has the structure of "I consider one of the best", but is modified to include "if not THE". So on a technical note I really didn't say it was THE best (but it is THE best if you want to hunt Jedi/slice bases on the side).

Some random thoughts, CoB doesn't work with pistols or any other ranged, mitigation only works with the right weapon type-you don't have ranged mitigation while using a melee weapon an vice versa.

Your template is nice with pistols but not very good in PvP, you can hold your ground versus most professions but not all. There are some you won't ever be able to kill with that, just as a FYI. But that's with any template which involves pistols.

On the contrary, pistoleers tend to be better in PvP than average Joe since they don't have anything else besides personal skill to fight.

IMHO LastDitch is the best pistoleer special, followed by TorsoShot and FanShot. Besides slicing that is the only thing I miss about my smuggler.

I ended up getting Novice Commando and there are a two pretty valid reasons, one being turrets are meant to be getting a x3 HP upgrade, so any more damage one can do will be good against them, secondly I think Nightsisters really really hate Blast damage so yeah, it's nice to have the Blast damage available. I ruled out Novice TKA mainly due to the fact I wouldn't be doing any unarmed fighting anyway so It'd have been useless...but meditate does look damn cool The only problem is I've not found a very good Launcher yet, boo.

Is it usefull to take TKA novice only for the meditate? This might be handy, to heal poison and stuff like that afterwards.....

@ Davianthol: I don't know if it is worth it. The launcher pistol can be good, but some claim it's a 'lagorama'. It does blast damage so that's another damage type you can shoot.

@RaifAnduin: Yeah untill now I liked it! Still need to pvpa lot to fully test the offense, and all the weaknesses. Then I can also see what is best to use with it, as an extra profession, cause you have 12 points remaining.

No, I can't remember the order but I think you have to be 2/-/-/- in TKA to heal Poisons, 3/-/-/- to heal Disease and 4/-/-/- to heal wounds, so the meditate skill will just do whatever else it does at Novice TKA...I think

hhmm, i was going to go (once i drop CM)

master fencer, m pistoleer, tka 4000, novice medic, and marksman 0404.

I toyed with the idea of the BH, but you wouldnt be able to get the TKA mediate and there's no novice medic, which i think is a must for all templates, what do you think?

I am focusing on this pistol template, and there's just no room for medic. All the attacks I need to drop to use medic are the ones I need. I can drop Master pistoleer and grips IV or BH pistols IV and BH pistol III or Smuggler Dirty fighting IV and III which have all things I want and need. I can't do it without 30 pistol speed from BH pistols. Master Pistoleer provides me 20 pistol speed, two specials, a lot of accuracy, a lot of dodge, melee and ranged defense. Can't drop that. And smuggler gives me last ditch, which I certainly want to keep! So really no room for medic in this template, how much I would want it.

The effects of Torso Shot are also good I noticed last night. There was a Spiderclan Elder on science outpost, which had incredible HAM and resists (only saw a NS elder before, which I killed earlier that night, along with two other guys). With Torso shot I could put her on fire, and it helped pretty good. (our sologroup had a chance to loot, 5 guys shooting and slashing). Against high level mobs this can be a good attack, combined with bleeding shot, healthshot2 and a modified republic blaster you do a nice tick to the health every 10 or 20 seconds.

This makes me use all the pistols, except the launcher pistol, but I might get novice commando with it, so I can use that one to. Just see what difference it makes.

It's the template I'm using, I currently have Novice Commando for the Launcher Pistol (it's great vs. Lairs, nice to have a pistol with Blast damage and I like to be able to say I'm certified on all pistols in the game) and Novice TK (took it for meditate before I found out that the skill doesn't do much at Novice).

At any rate, it's an excellent template for PvE, states haven't been a problem against Mokks and Janta (only been dizzied or KD a couple times, but they bleed me often). I've got clothing with bonuses to Melee and Stun Defense as well as Bleeding Defense and being a Zabrak helps a bit vs some states.

I'm sure that in PvP I'd get knocked on my butt and my opponent would have their way with me but I don't PvP anyhow as it's pointless and unbalanced. So I just have fun exterminating Mokks and making a lot of creds

(You might want to try Slicing 1 - 46k for a Janta mission is really nice.)
