Thread: What is the speed cap?

for an example:
say you are using a 2.8 speed de-10 (im using one of my own guns, my 2.8 speed 615 max de-10 as a reference point (made with some exceptional tissue and a yellow barrel with a nice damage slice.)based on the above information, that would mean i need a speed mod of 91 to speed cap last ditch (smuggler) and stopping shot (pistoleer) (this means speed slices are good for those of us non bh pistoleers) (91 happens to be my particular speed mod from all my attachments also: a +12 and a +5.)
at master pistoleer (without bh) we have a speed mod of 74. this means hypotheticaly using a 2.0 speed pistol (reasonable stats obtainable by joe pistoleer from john weaponsmith), we can ONLY speed cap specials that have a 2.0 or lower delay modifier, which is basicaly marksman specials for the most part, with i believe the sole exception being healthsot 2 which is still better damage then body shot 3 when speed capped...
in otherwords, buy yourselves a bunch of pistol speed SEA's if you dont have bh pistols to stack with pistoleer (like myself, i havea +12 sped in my ubese shirt and several others in my armor. [master pistoleer/tkm/smuggler/medic on my main, master pistoleer/smuggler/bh/medic on one of my alts]) or you will have a diddly squat damage output. speed powerups can help a great deal, they arent worthless and neither are speed slices, contrary to popular belief, carbineers and swordsman fall under similar circumstances as well, possibly pikeman but i cant remmber pikeman mods off the top of my head.
without getting attachments, at 74 speed, to cap every special except mtps/last ditch/stopping shot/you need a 1.2 speed pistol, and to cap all pistol specials at 74 speed, you need a 1.0 speed pistol. I havent seen a pistol that fastwithout a powerup since fwg5's and scatters got nerfed, with the exception of maybe krayt scout blasters without using absurdly high end materials (the for example, thespeed of the tissueused inone of my de-10's that iput as a reference point to get a damage slice and still be that fast was -1.4 speed krayt tissue.... which is NOT available to 99% of the population-typically those who loot it or have enough to buy it, and pistoleer is not an efficient pve money making profession)
on valcyn, we've come to believe that -3.0 speed and 300 max are the hard caps tissue , which is 10x the minimal lootable stats of krayt tissue. this is an unproven theory, but from my own experience, and that of severeal of my peers on the valcyn server (and all of us have large amounts of such weapons and components- i have 8 exceptionals on display in my shop..), and have looked into other servers as well, this seems to be the case with the possible exception of bugged loot (things that shouldnt drop but once in a while do) for all looted items.
anyway, that should fix up any controversy in this thread regarding speed caps and what speed is needed for different weapons etc, sorry again if i babbled or rambled, as this post took a very long time to write, and its now currently 3:38 am.
sorry ive been away for so long guys, I'm back and i'm here to help again. It seems like most of the other knowledgeable vets have either dropped pistoleer or quit the game, or stopped posting, tehre used to be a lot more guys who would come around with formulas and stuff on these sort of threads back in the day then tehre are now, hopefullythis reply has been helpful to you guys.
**EDIT** somebody said that speed caps at 125... your wrong, ONLY DEFENCE MODS cap at 125. speed and accuracy DO NOT. anything over 100 % speed is a waste becasue 100 speed is full reduction from any delay on any speed weapon.... the higher your accuracy is the less chance you have to miss your oponent. at about 180ish accuracy you can start hitting even the most hardcore defence stackers pretty easily.

STILL WAITING FOR A "tribute to his profession badge" WHAT DOES IT TAKE???? several peopel on other servers have them but ive yet to see any on valcyn.....

Anymore wont hurt, as they may change the speed formula someday.

actually, it caps at 100 because without the speed cap, at 100, you would essentially do infinite damage would it not be for the speed cap
defenses cap at 125 (dodge, counterattack, melee defense, etc.), speed caps at 100, but so far, nothing else caps (like accuracy)
at master pistoleer, and bounty hunter pistols IV, you're well over the speed cap, so worry about your defenses instead

this is a proposed change for the combat balance, but currently there is no hard cap or even soft cap for accuracy, but there is a point where having more wouldn't help much more since defenses cap at 125

luckily i believe at fan fest it was announced that this speed formula was getting completely thrown out fora more linear one in the combat rebalance which im looking forward to seeing how that is implemented.
