I am currently going for Master Pistol / Master Tk / Smuggler 0040 / Fencer 4020 and im grabbing "Intermediate Ranged Weapon Support Abilities" in marksman with the left over points for the ranged defense.

This will give you max dodge / melee defense, 123 ranged defense (one aakuan ring will max that), ranged / melee mitigation 3, and a ton of def vs states

i fiugre this will do pretty good for pvp and really good for pve for now... and after the balance im thinking this will be an extremely good template

Hmm iv never heard this... was this changed when the defense mod cap was put in place? i know for a fact that fencers would get pistol grips for the dodge and could never be touched before the 125 cap was put into place... and i still hear of fencers picking up pistol dodge. Where did you hear that the dodges do not stack? I think you might be wrong... or at least i hope =)

hmm, i still cant make up my mind. Does anyone else have any experience with both this templates or at least one of them?

I was never aware that the pistols and fencer dodge bonuses did not stack. I currently play with master pistols, BH 0/0/4/0, fencer 0/0/1/0 and novice medic. This gives me the ability to heal myself, 120 dodge(capped with an SEA), and max pistols speed. I am even considering dropping BH to 0/0/2/0, which would still have me at max pistol speed, and put those points into more fencing. I think this is an all-around good offensive and defensive template, although it isn't as good as some others I have seen listed here.

How about this template: mPistoleer, mTKA, and Fencer 3-3-3-0. You will 4 points left over. Dodge and melee max out, ranged is 123,DvKD is 120, DvPostChng is 100, also status effect D's are close to 100 as well. Any thoughts?

I have tried both of these templates and liked neither of them. With the first template you ahve ok defenses and PB but its a waste because you will never use you pistol other than the rare pull or against a kiter. You will do 10x the damage with TKA and forget about your pistol. With TKA i recommend other melee classes or Doctor. With the second template you have 0 defenses. Sure you will do lots of damage but thats not much help when you incapp in about 6 hits. My personal recommendation if you are actually going to do pistol is the template in my sig. It gives you +91 ranged and like +85 melee def. +165(ish) dodge and maxes your pistol speed and lets you use every pistol in the game minus the launcher. The only loss I see in smuggler is Low Blow but if need be pistol melee def works very well with the fencer dizzies you get. Last ditch is equalled by stopping shot because with BH pistol in the mix you max your speed.

you might as well call mpistol/TKM/msmuggler simply TKM, since anything dealing with pistols is absolutely terrible.

Well I have something similar to the second choice, and if you are mostly into PVE, then it rocks.

No, it's a completely separate skill that just gives you a chanceto respond with dodge, counterattack or block, but does not depend on those desenses' modifiers in any way. Only works when you're unarmed.
