Alot of professions being good in PvP depend heavily on the equipment you are using... Rifleman are one of the few exceptions, where all you need is a normal Jawa Ion, a pup and Master Rifleman and you are good to go. Here is my plan as a Pistoleer...
Obtain 5+ Krayt tissues with at least +50 damage, the more the better of course. Get a Yellow cube... have a friend create my geo pistol for me, and then get it sliced and kill myself if it's speed.
As well as all of this, obtain at least +15 pistol speed in 4 or less tapes, and in the end, over 1300 PvE DPS with the Geo using Stopping Shot at speed cap. Figure in 75% reduction and that's 325+ per shot to someone without stun comp. Throw in 40% stun comp and you still hit for about 100+ per shot, every second. The biggest problem from here is the fact that Stopping Shot is not HAM pool specific, so the damage spreads over the ham bars and generally makes us ineffective against BH pistols and rifleman. Besides those two professions, it should be pretty well off in PvP.
This is all if my numbers are right, which I'm sure there are variables I'm forgetting and whatnot, but all in all I don't think it's too bad of a plan. I'm also sure I'm not the first to think along these lines.

I'm not much of a numbers cruncher. I use a gun, decide it's not doing enough damage, and try another one for that situation. It could have been a bad run last night. It could have been a well-prepared opponent. Heck, it could just be that I stink at PVP. That last one seems most likely, to be honest.
If you compared the total damage we did to each other, I was probably ahead since I was eating into all three of his pools and he was hitting nothing but my mind pool when he wasn't hitting me with state affects. But again, my problem wasn't with this particular fight. It was with the fact that the pistol performed about as well as one that cost about one tenth the price.

Just to clear up some mis-information.. armor piercing doesnt work in PvP so your sonic blaster is always going to be better than your DX2 due to the base acid protection of most PvPers comp....
I know my PvP comp has 90%.
I mean think about the havok that would be cause if AP worked in PvP... headshot 3 witha T21... take all of 2 shots to kill you... the fact that AP doesnt apply is why most rifleman use a jawa unless they have a pre-nerf T21

no. ap doesn't count IF THERE ISN'T A STUN LAIR. as soon as the lair of stun is added, an instant 50% is deducted + the stun lair.

Umm I'm a novice pistoleer (0021), and yesterday I dueled a master pistoleer. We were both using Geo blasters (his was a lot slower than mine, but did more damage per hit). I was hitting him each hit for about 225 damage or so on average. He was hitting me for about 275 on average. Now, I wasn't wearing my stun armor, but both of us had full composite on (I doubt he had stun armor). With stun, yes, we would be doing a lot less damage. We were both using health shot 2 (3x dmg mod). So, since stopping shot is a 5x dmg mod, I would be doing damage in the high 300's or maybe even 400. Let's say the BH's stun armor was like 37%. So with stopping shot against him, I would be doing 150 dmg or so. Now, my geo blaster is 1.6 spd 147-273 dmg so of course I would do more damage than you, and your gun should be hitting around 120 or so againstsomeone with good stun armor.
So yeah, those numbers that you posted seem about right. Then again, that's why I like my speed sliced geo blaster especially once I get Last Ditch.
