The master smuggler/master pistols/master TKA template is usually used by people who want to be master smugglers. It's fun to play, I had this template for a while and it was effective, but if youdon't want to be master smuggleryou would be better getting master pistols/master TKA/smuggler 0040, and puting the rest of the skill points into medic and scout.
Hell, I'm a master smuggler and will be one foras long as this game lasts, but I can understand you not wanting to be one- the spiceline is useless, the underworld line is of very little use, the slicing line just makes people moan at you when the random nature of the slice puts a 22% speed slice on their 3million credit uber weapon.The amount of money you can make from slicing is not worth if for the aggro you get- which is why a lot of master smugglers, including myself will only slice for friends.
Master smuggler is more of a labour of love for bloody minded fools like me who are determined to enjoy the prof no matter what SOE throws at it.
As it is, I dropped a lot of the TKA part of the triple template as I wanted some medic skills (I like being able to heal other players wounds as well as my own), and have kept master pistols and master smuggler as these are the 2 masters I enjoy playing most.
But I'd be the first to admit that if you want to be good in a fight, you should keep master TKA as your damage output will be a hell of a lot higher than master pistols/master smuggler.

Tripple MAster, in my opinion, is more rounded. You still have great offense, from TKA, and you still have the pistols (CU ready!). It's A preferred template for SMuggler roleplayers. You got the Smuggler, You've got his pistol, and you've got the unarmed to back you up. Well, its more like you've got the unarmed, and pistols, are, well, just there. Overall, you have waaaaaaaaay more defenses with Triple Master, and you still have great (better or, maybe equal) offense compared to BH/Pistols/DF IV. With BH/Pistols/DF IV, you are an All out Pistols machine. All out offense, you are the gunslinger. With access to every pistol and pistol special in the game, as well as the use of Energy, Acid, Kinetic, Heat, Stun, and Blast for you to use at range, you are very versitile. Speed capped with pistols, you can Last Ditch Attack every second with any pistol. You have Access to Lowblow, Feign DEath, Torso Shot, and Eye shot.Before CU, pistols are weak. Post-CU, everything will be hsken up. This template, if possible, might not be thae same. Now, with this template, you will excell with your pistols. But, becarful not to bite off more than you can chew. Without much in the defense aspect of things, you could find yourself in high water quickly.
