Thread: 20 meter Lunge... improved rifle accuracies... carbine infinite KD (bug)
I have been Master Pistoleer since week 2 (thank you snorbuls and JAx)
WE have been getting nothing but weaker and weaker as days go bye.. with damage mit im using a 138 mind damage Dx2 with 33% mindamage power up..
I am loosing pvp battles like never before.. even with my 74% comp and doctor buffs.
This friday will be my last day as pistoleer I am finally throwing in the Towell...

You have no HAM costs to worry about compared to a carbineer or rifleman, and easily can spam fanshot and even stoppingshot with a good pistol. You get more speed than carbineers do. Dodge is great, although the animation does suck. Get suppression fire in Marksmen to keep melee away from you. Learn how to play a perfectly viable PvP class. Pistoleer is not this worthless class that so many make it out to be.

DONT GIVE UP PISTOLEER! I have the greatest character right now, and its all thanks to dodge.
step1) pick up novice fencer
step2) pick up good ubese armor
step 3) dodge every single enemy in the game a rediculous number of time
I was tanking FS mobs and dantooine and ive also been tanking grauls and rancors. It's so much fun
I think the original poster has the right to be upset -- I agree with him that right now Pistoleers have some major problems in PvP, in my opinion. (As a side note, to the Carbineer on the thread, Carbineers face many of the same problems as well. We're in the same crappy boat right now.)
First of all, defenses have gotten really out of hand. As a Master Pistoleer I miss the vast majority of my shots against melee and Riflemen (+78 Ranged Defense). Right now PvP is all about defense -- more and more people are picking up melee or Rifleman for defensive benefits, and everyone is wearing super armor and is buffed. We don't have enough offense to offset all that defense ... when we miss most of our shots, we simply can't win.
Second, the fact that we target the worst pool (Health) is becoming more and more of a problem in PvP. Anyone with Novice Medic can heal 600+ per stim with a well experimented Stim B, and most people have Doctor buffs. How can you possibly beat someone who has 3k health/action, insane regen (because of 3k secondaries),and can heal 600 per time, if you're relying on BodyShot or FanShot? You're screwed.
Third, improved armor hurts us the most. Early in the game, when the best armor had 20% resists, our lack of armor piercing wasn't a big deal. Now that everyone is wearing 70% composite, our lack of armor piercing is a major weakness.
Right now the balance of power has shifted in favor of Riflemen (who have by far the best damage output, best armor piercing,best accuracy -- over double of Pistoleer, and best ranged defense) and Melee. Pistoleer, on its own, has always been gimped with all of those broken specials, but right now you'll need Smuggler (those specials are way more powerful than ours) just to have a decent chance against prepared opponents.

There is another issue, one that people don't like to talk about much, and those who do get shouted down, and that is -- buffs.
Buffs in this game are more powerful than any RPG system that I have ever encountered.
Doubling hit points for a few minutes, OK. Quadrupling hit points for 2 hours?
Spells that allow faster use of special moves for a little while, OK. Food and drugs and buffs that allow anyone to spam all specials forever?
Thunderheart's Combat post indicated that the devs want a more thinking, more tactical combat system -- well, as long as they keep these incredible buffs in the game, forget it -- it will be all spamming the best special, all the time, unless they raise special costs so high that those poor, unbuffed n00bs (you know, like 90% of the PvE players) cannot do anything.
And don't even get me started on the HAM system. I have three HAM bars. As a Master Fencer/Master Pistoleer/4-4-4-X Medic (should drop some of this) there is literally only one Bar that matters, the blue one. This is at least mostly trueforall high-level characters. The other two, unless they can be one-shotted, which is rare these days, are nothing more than mana pools for the spamming of specials. As soon as they get down to the point where something might one-shot them, I just press the /heal self button and am totally healed. You either be able to damage a PCs blue bar, or just stay out of the GCW entirely.
Who would have thought that Sigfried and Roy or Dr. Jonas Saulk would rule the world. It's all about critters and soon buffs.
