Thread: Geonosian cave and Fan Shot bug...

Has anyone else noticed a peculiar bug with fanshot in the cave?


It seems to be similar to the bug where a mob (e.g Rancor) will attack you about 20 times simultaneously, as far as I could work out whenever I did a fanshot on the masses of crazed geonosians in the entrance hall/first corridor, it would take all the hits from the AoE cone and apply them to the targetted enemy, resulting in 1 or 2 hit kills and hits in excess of 15k damage. Only problem was I was so busy doing this all I got to loot was geonosian rations, an imperial plans segment and a chemical ampoule


Oh yeah, and the geonosians can do it to us too - never seen so many people with 0 in all three HAM bars in one place.

This is repeatable but only under very specific circumstances, and the player has no control over it.


This happens in other place's when there are many mobs in a confined space. I have had this happen at Fort Tuskin in the lower levels, particularly in the long tunnel between the underground pool and the next open cavern below it. I was shooting down the tunnel during the now nerfed hard Tuskin spawn and taking down lower level Tuskins in 1-2 shots and higher level hard spawn Tuskins in 3-5 shots. After looking at the combat chat it looked similar to a player killed by an NPC using advanced straf, hits on pretty much every part of the Tuskins body for 1000+ damage each, every second.


I had this happen briefly at the Geonosian Cave before I was hit with advanced straf from a Geonosian for a total of 20000+ total damage from all the hits I took on every piece of my armor in one shot.


This is just a guess but this may be how Fan Shot was intended to work, similar to the advanced straf, before the patch that made it an area attack.The origional discriptionof the special saidthat it hit multiple pools on a target.

Ive been hit in Fort Tusken by a sniper with Advanced Strafe for over 20k dmg. Crazy

Yeah advanced strafe was a killer too. Was quite fun though - got about 150k xp in 20 mins or something stupid like that

Watch out, looks like CSR's may be suspending accounts for this (will they ban the crazed genosians that did it to me?) Today I try and log into my account and it wont let me, first thing I check is billing to see if I slipped on payment, nope, account good for another month but it said my account was suspended.

I check email and I have one from a CSR saying my account was suspended for 3-5 days (which is it? do they even know? are they just pulling the number from their ass? how can they not give a set time?) for using an exploit in the caves on several occurences. Well, I never bothered exploiting to get in the cave before it was open so it wasn't that. Only 2 things this would of been, A. CSR's are mildly retarded now and the use of feign death is considered an exploit by them or B. CSR's are mildly retarded and consider the use of one of our specials as an exploit, im going with the second one here.

Woohooo, pistoleer, the only profession with a built in exploit.

SSSHHH!

The longer we keep this little advantage the better. It's hardly exploiting, considering we're way underpowered and have tons of broken specials anyway.

There seem to be two major AoE bugs right now.


AoE corpse bug : This bug usually happens when there are lots of corpses in the target area. It seems the corpses count as targets for calculating damage, however since no damage can be applied to them, it all goes to the primarty target resulting in high damage hits. Another side effect of this is that even if there other live targets in the area, the primary takes their damage too.


AoE LoS bug : This bug is almost the opposite of the above. In some cases, if you have targets in your cone of fire but they are blocked from LoS. You will get a "Can not see target" and not attack any of the targets. Including the primary target standing right in front of you. This naturally seems to occur in close quarters such as buildings where some of those in the AoE are on the other side of a wall or any other object that can block LoS. So you can be standing right in front of your primary target, but you won't attack because of some secondary target on the other side of a wall.

Quiet!!!! This is the only way a pistoleer can do enough damage to get looting rights. If you keep bringing it up it will get nerfed!

Waste is right. This is an Area Attack bug and not a Pistoleer bug.


Doing Fencer Spin Attack on Mamiens and Klikniks this will happen alot if you stand on only one place and the ground around you is littered with corpses. Same with TKA, Commando and anything else that has an Area Attack. I've done it (not on purpose mind you) with all three of these professions. It's a bug that seems to have been introduced last patch. Don't know if there is a way to do it on purpose other than spamming area attacks when there are alot of bodies around (Even then it's not an exploit as you are using a valid attack ... )

This is a known area of attack issue, any class with a cone attack can do this, the system gets screwed up when more than 10 things are targeted in the cone area and it results in these one shot kill scenarios where you deal like 10x's damage, its a bug/exploit....

Okay... sooooo...


We can't use our our only shot that actually kills high level stuff in a decent amount of time because it's a BUG? It's not like we have to do something special or exploit something to get the effect.. just tap /fanshot.

I have been to the G. Cave twice and I stopped going there after I saw this Riflemen using a Strafe shot macro and killing everything with one shot.


I hung around for 30 minutes, but after seeing that he was killing everything before I could even target it, I left.


I won't bother going back till they fix the AOE bug that let people AFK macro kill and loot near the entrace of the cave.
