Hi, I am new and have some targetting questions:

Example: Destroy missions.

I target the building and start to kill it. It spawns reinforcements. I would like to switch to the reinforcements but the computer makes me stay with the building. How can I prevent the computer from forcing me to stay with my target?

Example 2: Battle

I am currently in battle and would like to have no target so I can heal myself. Since not targetting anything counts as targetting yourself (since you can't target yourself) this would be the only way I could heal myself. The problem here is when I'm in battle the game makes me stay on target with the monster that is currently trying to hurt me. The game will not let me target "nothing" during combat. Is there a possible way in which I can target nothing so I can heal my self in dire needs? Thank you whoever answers, heh.

Sorry I'm also new at working my way through these boards and it doesn't seem to have a lock option or edit feature...

One more question:

Signing up to be in this fan club thing doesn't cost anything right I mean I just signed up to post >.<

I think I can clear all your problems up right here and now.

1) When creatures spawn while you're attacking a lair, pressing TAB or SHIFT+TAB should switch your cursor to the next nearest target.

2) There are a couple of ways you can heal yourself while in battle. You could either press CTRL+1 to target yourself (CTRL+another number targets different members of your group, if you're in one, with 2 always targeting the leader); or, as I prefer, simply create a macro to heal yourself. Open up your commands menu, go to macros, then go to create new macro. Name it something like "heal1," select an icon for it (I chose the cross symbol for mine), then type in this command: "/heal self;". Drag the icon into your toolbar, and now you have the "heal self" command hotkeyed. You can use this in the middle of a battle. If you don't want to waste space in your toolbar, you can always just type in "/heal self" to automatically use any medicine you have in your inventory.

Thanks!

Is there anyway to make my camera view just like it is in other MMORPGS like DAOC or EQ?

I hate how my mouse dictates the direction in which my character is going.

Is there a way I can make it so my camera view is like the characters head view.

Like a 3rd person view with my character's back ALWAYS in front of my screen so that I never see it's face.

I already have my keyboard seton EQ style and tried the lock camera thing but it didn't work. Am I doing something wrong?

If you are actively attacking something and you hit TAB to switch to something else, you are only looking at the new target. You are still firing at the old target. In order to start firing at the new target you either need to hit your attack hotkey or perform a special or double click on it.

In the options (CTRL-O) under Controls/keymap is the ability to load a preset keyboard map that mimics EQ. It may turn off mouselook by default. Otherwise I'm sure there is an option somewhere to turn off mouselook. Peruse all the options panes.

Pressing the period key on the number pad will set the camera to always follow you, so you'll always be looking at the back of your character's head. You can turn it off by pressing the period key once more.

Yeah, my bad about the TAB switch. You need to turn off mouselook first.

About healing yourself in combat:

You don't need a macro. Just put the stimpack in your hotbar and hit the correlating function key. 1 out of 10 times it may take another pressing of the key but I find it heals me and doesn't through up the error message about "Target must be a creature pet or player bla, bla, bla..."

If you are not in combat and targeted ona mob it will through up that error message when pressing the hotkey.

About changing targets:

Since the Update, tabbing through targets has been acting funny for me. Seems to be kind of random and doesn't cycle though based ondistance. As another poster said, ittargets them but youstill shoot at the original target... sometimes

Other times it does fire at the new target! Which kinda stinks coupled with the randomness I've been experiencing whenthere is a very aggressive, redmob near your mission lair. I had an instance this weekend when I was cycling through the zillion Rasps that came after me and it was targeting everyone except the mobs that were biting my crotch and pecking my head... It sent a volley of fire towards a creature that didn't like it so much.

hit CTRL + 1 and you will target your self.. (yes you see your name and hams ).. if you use a stim then.. there will be a substantial delay if your in combat at the same time...

Best way to heal yourself is to keep your stims in your main inventory (NOT in a bag). Then just create a macro for:

/heald <your name>

So if you name is PuddinPants then you would use:

/heald PuddinPants

This will never fail due to targetting issues. It does go invisibly into your combat queue, though, so you have to wait for it to take effect if you have things in your queue.

Hmm, looks like enough people answered but I'll try also.

1.) Normally if your attacking a lair, if I just hit peace my screen clear's out for me and the last couple of shots in that attack round are fired (there is always that delay after peace). Then I just click on the mob or tab and click attack.

2.) You can take your toolbar on top of your screen (the F1 to F12) and you can make it two colums so you have twice the options on the first bar. On the bottom I put my different weapons (DX2, FWG5, SB, regular cheap blaster, ect.) then I put stimpacks on the next 4, then traps on the last 4. This works for me, should work for you, it seems if you click on the stimpack while Engaged in battle, you will heal yourself. It takes a few seconds for it to land, and I have found it to delay my next attack, but when you need the heal, I'll take the delay. I have found that doing it this way iseasier and faster then having to peace, click out, heal, tab in, and attack.

3.) I run on the EQ style option. I can't remember where it's at, I know you click on the options for controls, then on the bottom you click on something else to open a menu, then click the drop down menue and click eq style, but I can't remember the names of those options and stuff, so tonight I'll repost if you haven't gotten it yet. Anyway, when running in EQ style you do both, EQ and SWG style, you can change between the two by either clicking your right mouse button or by holding it down. If you hold it down it will return to EQ style when you let go, if you click it it will change to SWG style until you click it again. I have found it to be an advantage in running this way in battles.

I'll try to find those links names on the options button when I get out of work for you
