Thread: Pistoleer is more effective against Jedi

From my experience, I have come to believe that pistols are the way to go against jedi, instead of the other ranged profs that have longer ranges. Riflemen and Carbineers, have always been able to kite their marks, thus when kiting out of range of saber throw or force powers, the jedi that they are attacking, are not able to attack them back, so the jedi is able to conserve force. This, in turn, creates these hour long battles that we all see/hear about.


I contend that with Pistols, since you are almost always in saberthrow range,that any jedi that you fight, will run out of force 50% to 75% faster then they do with all other ranged profs. Think about it, the jedi will constantly spam saber throw, or be using their ranged force powers. I have rarely had a fight last over 15 minutes, not only that, but most fights are over in 5-10 minutes.


The only problem with using pistols, is that you will take a lot of damage. So get CM 4xxx, or you can get a healing droid, and some healing eff sea's/be clothing, and, if you get to know your temp., you will be able to out heal your marks damage output.


Another thing to watch out for with this template, is that you will be kd'd a lot. When you get kd'd a lot, be prepared to experience the notorious "cannot use kd recovery, while kd'd". Just keep your cool, use your stims, and ruby,hit escape a couple times, and try kd recover again.


PS- One temp that pwns this one is the MBH MCM combo, which is the true jedi killing FOTM. The reason that it's FOTM, is that it is very effective, and also is quick, because you are usually close to your mark, and making them use their force more.


It took me a lot of losses to figure out my template, and i still lose every now and again. But to any of you pistoleer/bhers out there who are having a hard time. Stick with it. You will learn a lot more from your losses, then you will from your wins.

well my bud has been chasing the same "nike" jedi for the 3rd day in a row now....he's MBH M rifles CM 4000 and I can tell you...he sure does envy stoppingshot there's no way he can stay close enough to ol' lovemrunningshoes to kill him with only a snare.

yeah, and i totally left the states out of it. Just drink some pyro b4 you apply root; intimidate; blind; warning, and most of the time they will stick on mdefs. and try and save your roots for the end of the fight......you'll need it. I rarely see a jedi, who, if loosing a fight, will let you kill him/her. (which is understandable)

mmm this is how I got about it....I try to keep intimidate and blind on the jedi at all times (and remove my blindstate whenever a jedi blinds me), when I go kd I apply warning and dizzy, switch to my burstpistol (fwg with speed pup), pop a pyro, KD....nukenukenukenuke



I use root as often as the dowtime lets me...it's a really good move in combination with KD or a snare....I love it when you root a jedi, get out of saberthrow range, then when the root brakes KD him



I just try to remember to remove dizzy and blind as often as possible, as those two states have the biggest negative effect on you. (blind lowers your damage output as you'll miss more and do less damage per shot, getting dizzy lowers your defense a lot, increasing the jedi's to-hit chance and mildly increasing his damage per hit (as the ls spread between min and max damage is pretty small)

I don't have that KD Bug anymore... and I only ever had it twice. I don't run macros and I don't spam anything.


I do believe it was also related to Mezzing someone the moment they get KD'd.

Kiting is a term that is used to describe fighting a battle from a distance. If you can stay outside the range of your oppoenent but within range using your weapons, then you can hit them with your weapon while they can do no damage to you. Rifleman have longer ranges than pistoleers, usually like 65m (without ranged arms). Since jedi can only do saber throw from about 35m, a Rifleman can just run around staying outside that ~35m range with their 65m range rifle.

You are lucky, I've been doing pvp's more often lately and it seems that every Jedi i come across hit me with the same combo, suppression then knockdown, and about 90% of the timeI can't get up due to the bug, which i'm not the only person i've spoken to that has noticed this little...well i'll let you call it what you want.

Some of the carbines have a range of 65m as well.

Stopping shot is the Pistoleer's root attack, right? What other professions have root? Is CM's Paralyze a root attack?

Stopping shot is the Pistoleer's root attack, right? What other professions have root? Is CM's Paralyze a root attack?





Paralyze is a mez just like smugglerconcussion shot(root)and panic shot which break on dmg i believe. Stopping shot is one of only 2 true roots in the game, and has a long recharge making it a "gee i hope it lands" skill, only other one thatI know of is force suppression which is a jedi enhancer skill

The Blackhand Pistol is a 0 - 60m Pistol, very useful for nailing that Root with your Pistol bonuses from far away. A weak Pistol, though, but I carry it solely for that reason.

I carry it for that reason.. however since having it I have found it is also usefull for landing Intimdate on that rifleman that is nailing your party...
