Thread: Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler/BH Pistols

My goal:


To have a role play character capable of DESTROYING with a pistol... while depicting the image of a ratty, husky, Smuggler/Mercenary.


Does the titled template sound like it can work? Along with that... suggestions for armor and pistols for this type of scenario? I'm looking for an all black image, but preferably no helmet.



- I support fixing the real issues, and not creating more new ones.

well the pistol you'll want will be a Featherweight FWG5. and if this is gonna be used in any kind of combat ur gonna want some healing.

Unfortunately... and great response time by the way... I will only have 3 points left to use. So it's either Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer/BH Pistols, or to remove the BH pistols and add medic. Thoughts?

you can effectly play without healing... I would recomend deciding on it knowing full well in most situations you HAVE to rely on someone. Which is not necisarily a bad thing as I know a lot of GOOD dedicated healers... so look at it this way... if you plan on doing a lot of soloing you will be able to take them down fast but at the expense of a short lifespan... while if you have someone there to help out with damage and to heal your, your damage output becomes all the more important...


rember, there is no Bad Templete.


Every one is a good one as long as you know how to play it

Hmm... ok. So it's either up the Pistols and have someone to help heal, or lower the Pistols and heal myself. My character like I mentioned, will be RPed... so being the Merc/Smuggler... I don't think he'd want a medic trailing behind him. Nor do I think he'd fit the bill as one himself. lol.


I'll see what I can do I suppose. Any more suggestions for armor and weapons? I'd also like some tips on the best creatures to level up on if at all possible.

sorry mis'd the rp part duh...


well being a Merc he would know the importance of having someone watch his back... being a smuggler he'd be smart enough to want someone who would be able to fix him up would be apreciated... so you could perhaps get one of the mean gun slinger doc's out there to heal ya... there are a surprising number of MPistol with a mix of doc/cm skills out there and that might fit the profile of helpin ya out...


but armor, go with recon I personaly love the look of Mabari followed closely by tantel... the ubeese is just hidious... but factional armor never herts but being a rp merc/smug i couldn't see you in Scout, and the rebel recon would just Shout SHOOT ME to the law

I refuse to get healing (at least for now). I was a MP/MS/BH pistol line. I use stims when I need them. I also use my crowd control shots to stop my adversaries in order for my stim timers to finish. I am currently working to MP/MBH/ and something else. But I hate the FOTM of you "have" to have medic. So I'm trying to avoid it. I may keep some smuggler specials or I may add some carbineer, but I'm staying away from medic as long as I can!

I'm really interested to see where the Smuggler profession is headed so I'm gearing towards that... I was once a Pistoleer a LONG time ago... so that'll be "new" for me... the only question I guess template wise, is, having BH pistols worth it? I remember BH pistols having the most deadly pistol shots back in the day. But, wondering if I need it now.

if you can't get into the doc or cm healing lines screw medic the healing rates are not highenough for high end pve and pvp against someoen who can heal. just live with stims and ruby and find a partner or group for the tougher area's.

another option is master smuggler/pistoleer, commando 4404. I found this gave me better stats all the way around then 1 line of bh. Not to mention the crowd control aspect of aoe commando weapons.

Well, that's debateable...



I've got 0030 Medic and am a MPistoleer/MSmuggler. I have a +24 Healing Eff. AA. (anyone can get the Healing Eff. mod by getting some BE clothes though.) When I call my Probot Droid with a Med. Module in it, I can heal myself for about 1100 damage per heal. I'm quite confident that this is more then enough healing to keep me alive in PvE and would hold up well in PvP if I did any of it. I'll admit, this won't "pwn" in PvP but I don't really think a Smuggler/Pistoleer is going to "pwn" in PvP...

If you are taking the BH line for some extra speed and accuracy I would just say drop it and grab some CA's/AA's. I have master BH/Master Pistols with some +23 pistols speed/+18 gen ranged accuracy tapeswhich get me to 1.07 mod speed, and It doesnt feel any different than when I had 1.20 speed. That still leaves room for +27 in speed mods which can easily get you down to a level better than me, and still give you room to get some healer.

As Cigaran said; You can get surprisingly good heals out of proper tapes/BE clothing and a med droid. And you can heal a lot more often than you can using just stims and ruby. Looking over larger periods of time the amount of effective health you can throw around just with 800 heals every-whatever-the-cooldown-is is greatly increased compared to what you can do with stims and ruby.
