Does the 10 sec delay cancel if you attack the target? If not great....if so how is it useful in pvp if your next auto attack cancels the effect?

From what I've read and, more importantly, from my experience, yes. Attacking does free the target from the delay.

I didn't think it did, I havn't used it in a long time mind you so they may have changed it. As far as I remember though it used to work.

It use to be a flat 10 second delay no matter what, but that was changed in publish 7. Now the delay breaks on damage, which has severely limited its effectiveness. With that being said, it still does serve a purpose:
- If your fighting multiple opponents, you can delay everything with panic shot and then turn the fight into a one on one with a target of choice for 10 seconds. This is probably its best use, and although very situational, it does the trick quite nicely when called upon.
- You can also set up a panic shot macro to peace right after you panic shot. This will give you time to heal or regen your HAM without having to worry about being attacked. It also is useful for providing cover fire while you escape. When the new HAM system comes into play, I anticipate this macro getting alot more use, as people can use it to recharge their abilitiy bars.
Thats basically it. It is still mildly effective, but nothing like it use to be back in its hayday. I still disagree with their reasoning for nerfing it, but I doubt we see any changes to its functionality until after the Smuggler revamp. ![]()

it seems to stick if I pistolwhip/low blow and actually knock them down right before i panic shot, but if i fail to kd then the next damae seems to free them

This is 100% correct.
I'd like to add another use to the second bullet: weapon changing. With the new delays between changing weapons, it is nice to use Panic Shot first so you don't get lit-up by your enemy while you switch weapons. Just use Panic Shot and immediately /peace, then change your weapon and open fire once more. If you're quick, you should be ablet to easily start firing with the new weapon before your enemy comes off of the 10-sec delay.

you mean that if i can panic shot in pvp if i don t hit them they can t hit me for 10 secs? (thus making it great for intimidate because it s not an attack?)

Your question was answered before you even asked it, by more than one person too if you had read the thread. If you use PanicShot and then /peace you have 10 seconds where you can't be attacked by the enemy or enemies you delayed. If you attack them before the 10 seconds passes then they automatically come off of the delay and start attacking you again.
So yes, if you use PanicShot in either PvP or PvE and then don't hit them again (by using /peace so you stop attacking) then they can't attack you for 10 seconds.
And the post right above yours said that using PanicShot followed by Intimidate is a great combination.

This is the trick: AIM+Torso Shot, Panic shot, try to intimdate, melee defense, last ditch or eyeshot depending on ham if it sticks or use a low blow first if they did not fall. You should get one burn during the 10 seconds.

sorry, I forgot to add that you should hit peace right after the panic shot or your next shot will stop the delay
