I picked up on a comment by a Dev on the CURB that they are looking to get the max range extended beyond 64m.
I imagine 128 max range would be quite useful and would lend itself more to pitched battles across open areas.
This game has so much potential... I guess it's why we're all still here eh?

IM 0014 and dueled a 2244 tka and i put a hell of a fight up. the duel lasted about 7 minutes and in the end we both had a good laugh. ne ways just thought i would post to say I LOVE PISTOLS!!!!.

Pistols is fun. At master I dueled a TKM guild mateand almost had him but he thought he would be funny and accept the duel 5 mins after I downed my muon. In the end my downer got me. Too bad cause I almost had him.

/agree Pistols just seem to bring me into the game even more. I personally just love to walk outside coronet and blast butterflies and meatlumps just for the one shot kills. I was a TKM, and don't get me wrong, I was able to kill alot of different enemies, but that isn't why I play the game. The experience of using pistols makes the game more fun in my opinion. Besides, "hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side", what wise words...

Yayfor pistol lovers! 
I dont think I've ever killed anyone in PvP with pistols alone, apart from a few newer players who decided to flag overt, I always got my kills through the throwing of poison and a lucky fan shot hitting the mind pool.
You cant realistically expect to kill a decent PvP'er as a pure pistoleer unless you have some uber DoT guns and great SEA's for speed and accuracy.
That said, there's a certain amount of pride that goes with taking pure Pistoleer in a PvP tempate, granted I bolstered it with CM and Doc in my PvP days,but I have heard of players shelling out tens of millions to get uber guns and SEA's to make pistoleer work.
I wish I had the time to do that.
Because... I love pistols too.

According to his bio he was only a TKM at the time...
He was TEFed at the Dantooine Imprial outpost farming Storm Troopers. I had just logged on (Overt) infront of the Medical Center where the Imperial recruiter is located and the first thing I did when I herd those Troopers shooting was pop a synth steak and two brandy's... He ran up to me and told me to "Try it..." I replied "Yeah okay maybe if I was buffed" he turned and headed back towards the starport where more storm troopers had spawned... I waited for him to get about 20m away from me and I just aid into him like there was no tomarow

Well... If it was Master Pistoleer vs a TKM and all they used was that profession and the one it took to attain it'sspecials and were nothing else (Marksman/Pistoleer vs Brawler/TKM) My vote would be for the Pistoleer...
Unless the TKM whine's like a baby and makes a rule where you have to stand still infront of him and not move /rolleyes
A TKMguy I used to help outgave me a bunch of crap one timefor "Running away" during a duel with him shorty after he mastered TK... told me I was being cheep and that I was scared to fight him.. I still whooped his arse and even DBed him for being apr!ck
Dont listen to those Melee monkeys, just because you dont stand still twiddling your thumbs while they wail on you doesnt mean yourbeing cheep

I find that Master Pistoleer on its own is just totally nerfed by someone having Novice Medic.
The damage output is just not enough to take down, let alone inflict any significant damage on aseasoned PvP'er.
I had this drummed into me anytime I lobbed a poison at someone and they cured it, then what was I supposed to do?
I posted before about a stalemate I had with a MCM/MDoc, we were both overt, fully buffed with music and dance buffs and kept curing each others poisons.
Even with my DE-10 I couldn't do enough damage on a player who had no defenses of any kind bar full compto kill him.
It was that encounter that made me bow out of PvP until the CURB.
Now if I hade a mind fire DoT pistol on the other hand...

The whining that Melee-ers give us about "running away" (aka kiting) is really pointless and unrealistic. Many of those who whine have never taken a ranged profession, and only use melee to make themselves 'unbeatable'. If they haven't been a Pistoleer, they tend to think that there's no difference between a Pistoleer standing there shooting at point blank, and the TKA swinging wildly at him. They tend to forget that we haven't got Melee Mitigation any more than they have Ranged, we haven't got Toughness, and we haven't got Centre of Being. They also tend to forget that we're not speed-capped at Master, and they are.
I was dueling a friend of mine lastnight (TKM/MCH). He'sa good guy and a good friend, but when I started kiting him -- andusing Suppression Fire to gain some distance on him when I stopped to Heal -- he didn't take that as well as I thought he would. Granted, he did as he promised and sicced his 4k HAM Probot, and 11k, 40% resists Gurreck on me when I started kiting. A few Stopping Shots later, they were both out of the fight. But my point here isn't to tell you all about my 1337ness. You all already know that.
But he didn't like me kiting him, and I did admit that if I'd stood toe-to-toe with him, I know he would have beaten me. I did point out to him that while it took me several dozen HealthShot2s and a number of DOTs to finally wear him down, the one time I let him get close enough to hit me in the duel, he brought me down to about one-quarter of my HAM in about four seconds. I thought I was done then, but I cleared me queue and spammed Suppression Fire, got him on his knees and then ran again.
So I was able to point out to him the hugely uneven field we were playing on, and at the end he understood why kiting him wasn't just the best option, it was the only option. I also thought I did a very nice thing by opening his eyes to Unarmed_Lunge1.
In the end, I'd like to point out that my "cheap" kiting tactics didn't lead me to incap him. I don't duel my guildie friends for PvP ranks, and being incapped by a friend when the fight is obviously won just seems humiliating.
Oh, one other thing. I do have BH Pistols, but the only specials I used in the fight were HS1, HS2, Suppression Fire, and Stopping Shot. Yay me!

Bah. Kiting has been around forever. There will always be that tactic used by ranged professions. TKs will always use the KD/Dizzy combo too, but its all part of the game.
Can't we all just get along anyways?
