Thread: Anyone else grab novice doc?

I have MBH/MP with novice doc. I know I gave up defenses and accuracy by not adding carb or SL, but thought maybe with the new meds the healing may be worth more than the DPS or defesnes. Also can give yourself nutirent injections if you need to zerg.

Anyone else try this out?

I went with a branch of CM (0004) myself, becaue of the additional crowd control + ranged heal. I figured it would be more viable in groups to be able to heal a team mate far away. Big heals can still be done by dedicated healers, but an oh-crap-he's-going-down Bacta toss would be nice.

And I do like the debuffs aswell.

i was a doc/cm / pistoller b4 the CU and its really cool. u can still do pretty well, and heal the tanks from afar, and heal the pansy rifleman behind u for 2k dmg if he gets hit. But now i am a respec BH (laugh if u must but it is fun as heck) and i dont think theres much use for healing outside of Instant stims. Actually with the 52 pts u have left after MBH MP i probably would do CM 4/0/0/0 or 0/0/0/4 but i like Last ditch from smuggler too much :-D

I'ma MP/MBH with CM 4/0/0/0, and I love it. Doc would be even better, and I'd do that in a second if I had enough free skill points. I have a bactas+stim macro that gets me out of a lot of near-death experiences, and even if I didn't need the healing in combat (I usually don't--my kiting/droid-tanking procedure usually lets me take down mobs without taking much damage, if any), it's really useful for getting me back to full health before I attackthe next mob. I can even heal my droid! I really miss the Nutrient Injection that I gave up to free up skill points for CM, but I got some really nice mods in return.

The doctor heals are not great really, Bacta Jab is the worst one I have at 4/4/0/3 CM and 1/0/0/4 Doc (respeced the other day from 1/4/0/0 Doc as not much need for DoT heals so far).

I tend to rely on bacta shot and bacta spray along with Stim D as Jab and Toss dont work on yourself in combat via enhancers unless you /tar self.

I quite like bacta infusion though, even though I dont have the improved version of it.

But healing wounds is nice, so that you don't end up with a big collection of them.

I do like the buffs though, I can now spam away my action firing Body Shot and Quickdraw at what seem to be 1 shot per second, but that might just be some macro exploit I blundered into. Anyway, with Kiwik Swirl and Vasarian Brandy you get +400 to action regen, then you get 10% action regen from the doc buffs.

It doesn't go crazy but you definately notice when those three buffs are not there.

From CM, Electrolyte Drain is a nice aid to kiting while waiting for stopping shot to run it's timer.

I've been wondering what foods I should start experimenting with. So far I haven't really needed any, and Iam afraid of having my stomach too full in case I ever need to take emergency food to heal disease or poison. I did notice the other day that I was starting to regularly use up all my action in combat, and couldn't figure out why this was starting to happen (I thought it had something to do with my last respec), until I realized that I was using my DL44 XT (high action cost). When I switched back to my modified republic blaster, that problem went away and I now rarely ever use up all my action in killing a single mob. I also respec'd my Combat Medic line to 0/4/0/0. and now that I can poison and burn my targets, I find that I don't really even need to kite much anymore. I can just let them come right up to me, and after a few melee-range hits where I suffer little damage because of my armor and defenses, it is dead.

I really like my template now.

hey, Uthyr! Are you finding you are able to poison/fire in PvE with regularity with your 75 Med Warfare/30 Bio Suppression skill mods? I've tried out the 4/0/0/0 template, and the healing efficiency is really nice on the advanced bacta toss and bacta shot. It's like getting another Stim D in there. If the poison and fireare hitting with regularity though, it might make up for the lesser healing ability.

Check out my DPS and defense threads when you geta chance. Next, I think I'm going to check out the effect of more accuracy (respecing to carbineer as my support skills. That'll also let me try out crippling shot as a secondary crowd control method.)

I've got 4/4/0/3 CM and fire and poison stick, but not as often as Master CM. Can be a bit annoying but its worth it for the 1/0/0/4 I can put into Doc.

I dont use mush other chef buffs other than Kiwik and Brandy... maybe PIkatta and Synthsteak but I dont even use those muchanymore.

I made some Ruby Bliel, that halves the time of stimd use to 30 seconds, but I need to test that further as it only seemed to effect one application of the stim.

thx Badger. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with my leftover skill points. Guess I'll just have to give it all a try and see which fits my playstyle better (though I think my 2 week respec period is almost up.)

I was Pistoleer / Doctor before the CU (and a very bitter one at times ) and I still am now.

And actually, all heals work on yourself even if you don't have yourself targetted...

I am torn at the moment between keeping CM 0400 versus going back to CM 4000. I find them both very useful. One thing about the latter though--as soon as I started playing that template, I thought, "Hey, this is really fun, being able to poison and burn mobs to death without firing a single shot at them!" It gave me back some of the feeling of power that I used to have with DoT's as a Desperado (and as a Pistoleer, with the old Health Shots) pre-CU. My first test with it was shooting some NPC's in a city, and then just having them chase me around a building over and over again after I lobbed the poison and fire at it, as I watched them burn and poison to death. As for how well they stick--well, that part can be rather annoying at times. I made a macro that fires Improved Neurotoxin followed by Improved Deuterium Toss (I'd have added Infect, but I read that it's broken). I'd say that both of those stick on the same mob perhaps 50% of the time (I didn't actually keep track). Usually, one or the other sticks, and sometimes neither sticks. Some mob species seem more resistant than others too (I couldn't get them to stick on fambaas at all). When they do both stick, the mob definitely dies a lot quicker, and I find that I don't have to kite as much anymore.

I never thought "hey, this is fun" when I was using the higher healing mods on the bactas in the other template, but I do miss the healing mods since I moved over to 0400. I'm really not sure which is the most useful--the defenses or the offenses--I'll have to play with them some more before I commit.

As for your pending accuracy experiment, I for one will very much look forward to seeing your results! I posted follow-ups on the other two threads you referred to.

I've noticed no problems using Enhancers on myself with an Enemy Targetted.
