Thread: Who has the best pistol?

My first post. I haven't played SWG in about a year. I'm a MBH, almost MP. Please post any pistol with base DPS greater than 400 (can be sliced but no powerups). My FWG5 looks something like this:


405 DPS

669 Modded DPS (might be with powerup)

4% spd

4% damage

3% crit

1.51 spd (.96 when on)

dont remember damage zone will post pic

105 SAC (very high I know but -29% SAC powerup, brandy, blob, and neutron reduce this)

0-35m range


I will post pic when server goes back up (Ahazi)


What are good combos for high damage? I like adv crit shot, body, and knock them down and unarm them throughout the fight.

DPS doesn't make a good pistol, this is a great guide on what makes great pistols.


Pistol Guide


Basically your looking for double capped guns (SAC and Damage) before slice, then slice it full for speed. If your using the new scopes once they're fixed then you can have great accuracy bonus too. Thats just my opinion though, here is a great thread showing off some of the best pistols in the game.

I made a nice featherweight...


1.7 speed


940 max


65 sac


377 unmodded dps


Sliced no pup. With a speed pup on it I think i'm right around 600 unmodded dps as I recall. Capping Sac and getting darn close to the damage cap makes for a darn nice weapon especially since a speed slice dropped me to below the speed cap. Once the weapons validation code goes in I expect all weapons with speeds below the caps to once again be brought back up to the speed cap of 1.73 making most of those high DPS weapons currently out there almost useless(most are basically useless now).


I guess my first thought on the weapons listed above is why in the hell would anyone want to use that weapon. Your looking at a fast weapon sure, 1.5speed unmodded is damn fast. but how many shots do you get at 105 SAC before your action bar is completely empty. And not only are you gonna empty your action bar in nothing flat but your looking at doing very minor damage per shot. You might as well walk up to your opponent and try to tickle them to death.


My modded dps ends up being just under 900dps and I have absolutely no pistoleer at all in my template. The only thing giving me pistol speed is tapes and BH. But the biggest thing is I will be hitting nearly twice as hard for each shot and I'll get nearly twice as many shots, and they'll be coming out at almost the same speed.

Ok let me try this again and lets see if i can be a little more constructive and informative about it.


Let's compare


Yours Mine
1.51 speed 1.70 speed
669 max940max
105 SAC 65 SAC
405 DPS377 DPS


Lets start with damage, lets assume we have the same skills and after armor ect... we're hitting our opponent for about 70% of the listed damage. in this case...


Yours Mine
468damage658 damage per shot



Ok so now that we know we're hitting our opponent for the above damage per shot lets figure out how many shots we get before our SAC dies out. Since we have no hard figures on our action bar lets just assume we have a total Action of 1000 for easy math.


Yours Mine
105 SAC = 9 shots 65 SAC = 15 shots


So now lets just fit that in with our damage per shot's and see where we are at.

468x9= 4,212658x15= 9,870


That's over double the damage output. Not to mention that is drastically reduced when you take into account state shots like kd/roots/intimidates/bleeds etc... Now lets go to the one advantage your gun has, and that's speed.

1.51x9 = 13.59secs 1.7x15 = 25.5sec


So by this we're showing that it takes me about double the amount of time to unload all of my damage, but consider this, I have 2x the damage coming, so if we're looking at matching the damage to what your pistol will produce then I can unload roughly the equivilent damage in about the same amount of time, the main difference is that I will last much longer in the fight and be much more versatile.


We could also take into account pups as you mentioned. But consider this really quickly, if you use a 29% SAC pup(very good pup by the way) that will give you a finalSAC of 74. That's still 9pts higher than my pistol. But lets take my 1.7speed and throw an equally impressive 34% speed pup on it and look what happens. Suddenly I'm down to 1.1speed. So not only am I at a lower speed than you are with your pistol but I'm also at a lower SAC cost and a much higher damage.

Now look at the stats and tell me which weapon you would prefer. The weapon I had made beats yours hands down without a question. I'm not sure which enhancements got put into your weapon so that may very well play an important role in these but when trying to compare a weapon based purely on DPS it will end up biting you in the end, SAC is a very important factor that can not be easily changed later on. Also keep in mind that you could be using the same foods to help offset the sac regardless of your weapon of choice, also keep in mind that the only mods you can pick up to help are speed/accuracy mods which also have a diminishing return. Everything points at the second weapon being a much better choice. But even if you took damage out of it(to account for difference in components used) and base it purely on SAC/SPEED then you can clearly see the winner here. Hands down you are better off getting the lower sac at a slight cost to speed. Yes the listed DPS is not as impressive but the actualfunctionality of it is much more impressive.

Excellent effort. Only one problem. I believe he stated that his modded DPS was 669...NOT his max dmg. So all that math you did is moot. I had a FW that was right at 670 dps before, and the max dmg was right around 966. Though the speed was slightly higher. So I'd reckon that his max dmg is near (or better) than your max dmg (940s+). Now, feel free to do that max all over again and see where yall lie.

That's a decent pistol, but it's obvious that the WS put everything into speed and damage and ignored the SAC. That pistol isn't too great to be honest. Even with foods, your SAC will kill you after 9 hits.

Some civic minded personon Ahazi should buy that pistol off him and destroy it, that way nobody will get killed trying to fire it.
