Thread: Can We Get A Guide for Forum Posting Here??

Really don't intend this as a flame or anything like that, so please bear with me. While I spend a lot of time "trolling" this forum (though I'm obviously not a troll, as anyone who can see my post record will affirm), I don't in any way consider myself better than those with 50-or-less posts, or any such junk as that. I don't "dominate" this forum, nor do I own it, nor do I make the rules. I just try to help out, and find as much wisdom on our profession as I can here. In light of that, I do my best to help others with their questions, give advice, share experiences, and all that good stuff. There is no noob question. Any question asked in sincerity deserves a good, honest, helpful response.
But . . .
Can we please refrain from posting questions that are answered more than once per page? Anyone who's spent a significant amount of time here has seen how many "Temp Help," "What's a good price for a DE-10?" and "When do I qualify for the Geno Pistol?" questions we get here every day it seems.
I've been guilty of this myself many times. It happens to all of us, and it's nothing worth getting upset about. But as someone who spends a lot of time on BH, Carbineer, SL, GCW, and Galaxy Forums, it doesn't exactly present an air of huge credibility for our profession's community when the first page almost always has these same questions on it. Again, I don't begrudge the questions, but there are other ways of finding answers than posting another thread.
Reading through any forum and seeing a lot of posts RE: "I got load-killed!" "Nerf Saber Block!" "My Personal, Perfect Proposal to Save the GCW!""I PWNED So-and-So!"looks really horrible when it's covering the first page of a forum, as most of us here can appreciate. And it's similar here. We have our version of these repetitive posts.
Again, I'm not coming down on people turning to this Pistoleer community for advice on issues that they trust we can provide good input on. I'm honored to discuss Temp options, and DPS calculations with anyone who asks here. You all know what I'm saying. I won't take up more time and risk turning this sincere plea for a more clean-shaven, refined Pistoleer Forum Community into a personal rant again "no0bishness."
Let's get in the habit of Searching the forum for posts regarding our question. If you can't find a match to your search in the first two pages of searching results, chances are, no one will mind you posting another question. But if you do find it, it really does a lot for all of us if we can avoid repetitive post topics.
Thanks for reading.

Pistoleer is a slow forum compared to others but I am not a huge fan of a bunch of stikied threads up top. Sure it is funny to see 5 threads with the title DE-10 in it and then another 2 with template help in it and then fianlly 4 with speed cap in it. Sure we have seen plenty of these but thats okay.

lol, we should just make threads named:
" Shut up, your DE-10 blows and you got ripped off. You deserved the speed slice", and
" You don't have enough money to speed cap, go get BH pistols", and of course
" examine your GSB, where it says "certified" is the next word yes? It's not? then you can't use it yet."
and keep them bumped.
Folks will go out of their way to flame a smart ass, and if that means they actually have to read what the smart ass said first, then it just may work.

Hey Ren -
When do I qualify for the Geno Blaster?
I can't find the qualifications for it anywhere on this forum.

Anyways, long time no "troll" for me, glad you are keeping up with it

Its hard to actually stop those kinds of posts even with stickies for each one...in the TK forum we had a huge post that said Master TK Template forum post all template questions here! and guess what...people still posted new threads asking about templates...
Best to just browse the forum and ignore posts you dont care about right now things are kind of slow. When CURB talk really ramps up Ill try to organize it a little better and maybe try to post the template talk to a centered thread.

Yea, there will always be that person who scrolls down past the "template thread" or "dual wield discussion" to start threads asking "How's this template?" and "Will pistoleers ever have dual wield?"
From these people we can not escape, no matter the organization or post stickiness

It's too bad there is no way to automatically filter or ignore certain message threads. I don't know about you guys, but when I see a thread that has unread messages in it, I feel compelled to read it (even at the same time I am sighing thinking "oh great, another question on this topic"). I don't want to miss a good argument/discussion that mutates out of a simple question.

True. Sometimes someone brings up a valid discussion point on the 30th or 40th thread on the same topic that I feel compelled to give my attention to. It's wierd sometimes how many angles can be covered in multiple threads on the same topic.

I totally agree! If someone's already answered the question, I ignore itfor fear of "accidentally" ranting on about repetitive posts and the benefits of the Advanced Search option at the bottom of the page, but if it's unreplied to, I feel compelled to help out for some reason. Maybe I *am* just a troll . . .
