Thread: Looking for Warning Shot info
Im a MBH, MR, Pistols 0404 and I am considering trading some accuracy for Warning shot by moving to pistols 2203. Warning shot seems quite intersting with the -80 def mod. How long does it last? Does it always stick in PvP?
thanks for any info.

I think its actually -90... as long as it hits them, it sticks.. I dont remember the timer.. maybe 15-20 seconds... I find it extremely nice in pvp/pve to use before stating people or rooting them

that's because PvE mobs equal or lower to your level have no defense, and the game doesn't allow defenses to go into the negatives. Try warning shot on something above your CL and you'll see it makes a difference on your damage (unless your accuracy is already so high you're still hitting max damage on a mob over your CL.)
summary:
mobCL <= your CLmeans mob has no defense mods (at least in terms of the damage calculation)
mob CL > your CLmeans mob has defense mods (at least in terms of the damage calculation)
Probably where I was going wrong. I generally do most of my combat practice on Yavin IV because the mobs are strong enough to take several hits but weak enough so they won't kill me even when I just stand there. I'll have to try it out on level 81 and higher mobs like Nightsisters.

unless the MOB is above your CL. Then it has melee and ranged defense, and warning shot works. I've tested this numerous times.
tho I haven't tested it when my CL has been below 80 (that I can remember testing it.) So it might be only CL 81 mobs and above that have defenses. Need a pistoleer who is not CL 80 to do a test.

I'll test it out and see if there is any set modication it does.

Thanks, Staveeno.
For reference, here is my initial thread on the tests against CL 80-82 Bolle Bols (with me being a CL 80 character.)
as far as i noticed warning shot sticks always (or at least that often that i didnt realized any failure).

Ok, I have tested warning Shot, and compared the results with my Damage Calculator that I created. It lowers your target's Melee/Ranged Defense by 80. When I plugged in my accuracy and then put in -80 for the targets accuracy, The predicted numbers were the same as the numbers in the combat spam.
And it works on all targets until you cap you weapon's Min or Max damages. With 391 base accuracy on my toon, plus the 80, I cap my Max damage on all targets Level 76 and below.
