Thread: My Ideas for specials.

At the moment, there are really 4 broken attacks:

Fanshot

Disarming shot

Multitarget shot

Pistol whip 2


Now, my personal ideas on what i'd like to see from these attacks, this comes from the experience of being a pistoleer since august


Fanshot, as someone said before, the definition of a "Fan Shot" is a technique used by gunslingers to shoot quicker then their gun would usually allow. As you'd see in cowboy films with a guy shooting using his other hand to reload the weapon quicker.

With this is mind, i believe Fanshot should be an attack like the carbineer blast shot (i believe it is) where it hits all 3 HAM stats. (Scatter hit and unarmed combo does this, if you didn't know the carbineer attack). You'll be asking, "Why? I like hitting lots of targets at the same time!" Well, at the moment, that's the supposed job of multitarget shot! Also, it'll give us something in PvP which is VERY effective. Allattacks that hit all 3 stats go through mitigation, dodge, block and counterattack, whether this is a bug or intentional, it'll make the pistoleer good against a melee fighters and riflemen. Since it hits all 3 stats there is no need for a target pool attack!


Disarming shot. Very simply, make it a delay of some kind. Although this will conflict with panic shot, it should, at the first level, only hit 1 target, and at the second level be area. So, when you shoot someone with this attack, they get delayed for 10 seconds. None of the previous ideas of having a waypoint of where your gun was shot to etc, just an easy, practical idea that'll make the attack DO SOMETHING!


Multitarget shot should, simply, do what fanshot does! I don't think i need to explain this any further.


Pistol whip 2? Make it do what pistol whip 1 does, maybe even have it AOE. Not like the (current) fanshot AOE where it hits everything in a cone, but like a melee AOE where it hits everything around the pistoleer. So basically, make it a melee area KD, this will be highly desired in PvE if the pistoleer gets outnumbered by so many critters and needs a quick escape.


Hope you guys enjoy these ideas. Obviously people will agree or disagree, but can you make your responses constructive so that if/when the correspondant or developers read this, they'll know what they need to improve

All good ideas. Maybe one day these things will actuallywork. Personally, I'd like to see double tap as a weaker version of what you want fanshot to be. Have it hit 2 out of the 3 bars and then have fanshot hit all 3. Kind of like the combo attacks for TKA.

Also, to people who complain about all the broken specials, they are broken because no one wants to spend the time to discuss ways to fix them and all they do is complain.

These are all good ideas. Wish this kind of thought went into the specials in the first place and then we wouldn't be complaining other then they just dont work as advertised.


Are theseour only broken specials. I have heard that bleeds will be getting worked over again especially our two bleeds/healthshot1 and /healthshot2.


Also what is up with /bodyshot3 is it not alsobroken, so why wasnt it listed? Shouldnt it be?

The only thing that I've heard about the bleeds are that the damage that the actual shot inflicts is going to hit the targeted pool. Kind of like a bodyshot thats starts a health bleed.


As for bodyshot 3 it works...sort of. It does hit the health pool but only has slightly higher damage and a lot higher delay and HAM cost compared to bodyshot 2. So it's not that useful until you reach master.

Body shot does what it says, heh. Doesn't get on the list therefor



Also, if the correspondant posts here approving/dispproving, it'd really make this thread more noticable by the Devs

Really?


So i take it multitarget shot does what fanshot does currently and fanshot hits a target multiple times (as it was planned to do a few months ago)?

Disarming shot should make the enemy's weapon come un-equipped.


That would be a nice surprise, and the delay they suffer in combat would be nice. Plus a skilled enemy would have his weapon hotkeyed anyway, so this isn't really overpowered at all.


Making meleedefense 2 an aoe melee knockdown would be sweet. It would be nice when you get swarmed by huurtons,


Then once they're on the ground you can fanshot them to death, lol.


I think pistoleer needs a shot that can dizzy an opponent. Combined with KD, you would actually be viable in PvP

I disagree on every single point. The ideas up in Philosopher1976's November "State of the Profession" thread are much better alternatives, I believe.


Your idea for Fan Shot seems a bitlike what Double Tap is supposed to be (and what BH's worthless Fast Blast already is), delay shots in Disarming Shot would make Panic Shot in Smuggler obsolete, MTPS would be great as a 360 shot if it just did some serious damage, and an AOE knockdown for PMD2 would becompletely unjustifiedand snipe Charge Shot 2 from Carabineers.


I also disagree that there are only 4 broken attacks. Hell, there aren't even 4 WORKING attacks, at least not that are working to the point where they're actually useful.
